Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education, administration, business management, organizational development, or a related field is required. Experience in higher education. Knowledge of the higher education accreditation process with at least one regional accrediting body such as SACSCOC. Management skills, organization, adherence to detail, and follow-up are essential. Judgment is needed in interpreting and prescribing guidelines and procedures for institutional effectiveness and program development. There is some amount of policy interpretation.
The Director of Institutional Effectiveness/SACSCOC Liaison deals with faculty, staff, college administrators, and staff of the North Carolina Community College System. The incumbent must be able to deal diplomatically with other divisions of the College to enhance the process of institutional effectiveness and SACSCOC compliance. The ability to communicate to groups of faculty and staff through division meetings is necessary. Also, person-to-person relationships are necessary for explaining procedures and interpreting data. Correct conveyance pf fact is critical, and there must be attention to detail in analyzing, interpreting, and dissemination of analytical data. Confidentiality of information is expected in this position.

The Director of Institutional Effectiveness/SACSCOC Liaison provides leadership and oversight for institutional planning processes, conducts research and analysis for informed decision making, and develops institutional assessment systems to ensure accountability and effectiveness. He/she assists the senior administration in implementing a planning, management and assessment program, and facilitating the management of the College’s strategic plan. The Director of Institutional Effectiveness/SACSCOC Liaison reports directly to the President and serves as a member of the President’s Cabinet.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Assists with institutional effectiveness planning processes and works collaboratively with college personnel to manage the College’s comprehensive continuous improvement cycle.
- Directs and communicates the activities of institutional effectiveness.
- Develops a comprehensive program of educational and institutional research providing data to support enrollment management, academic excellence, administrative effectiveness, and the institution’s planning and evaluation process.
- Provides statistical support for the development, preparation, and evaluation of curricular, instructional and programmatic decisions, assisting with instrument design, data analysis, and the reporting of findings for external reporting and certification requirements.
- Acts as SACSCOC liaison and coordinates all SACSCOC reporting, to include preparation of QEP and reaffirmation efforts.
- Serves as a member of the President’s senior staff, providing leadership, excellence, service, guidance, and communication.
- Manages the budget for Institutional Effectiveness/SACSCOC services.
- Serves as the college data coordinator and key holder for the System Office and federal reports ensuring that all deadlines are met.
- Stays informed of institutional guidelines and procedures established by SACSCOC and the North Carolina Community College System, and determines the most effective means of implementing prescribed procedures.
- Handles multiple projects involving accreditation, planning, and/or research simultaneously without close supervision.
- Serves as chair of the Planning Council Team.
- Assists the grants writer by doing research and data reports needed for grant applications.
- Performs other job-related duties and projects as assigned in support of the College’s mission, core values and goals.
