Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum five years’ experience in management, support and/or use of Learning Managements Systems (LMS).
  • Three years of instructional technology related experience in higher-education setting.
  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts required.
  • Experience writing data queries and the ability to analyze the data.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to interact with students, faculty or staff in a helpful, patient, and professional manner.
  • Ability to plan and evaluate technology-enhanced educational programs.
  • Management skills to thrive in a dynamic team-oriented environment.

Position Description

GENERAL FUNCTION

Under the supervision of the Chief Information Officer, the Director of Instructional Technologies is responsible for the leadership and promotion of the College’s online program.  Works closely with faculty and staff in the development, scheduling, delivery and evaluation of applicable courses.  Oversees the coordination and supervision of video conferencing for sending and receiving Interactive Video (ITV, Zoom, etc.) courses. Manages a support team who assist students, faculty, and staff in daily use of campus technologies.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the development, organization, planning, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of the College’s online program.
  • Manage course creation and replication process.
  • Provide resources, training and guidance to faculty to ensure online courses meet industry standard course design and usability best practices.
  • Administer student support to provide online, group or individual technical assistance as needed, including, but not limited to, training and student tech orientation.
  • Serve as a resource person to faculty and staff with existing and new technologies.
  • Maintain (in conjunction with the CIO) all pertinent licenses, certificates, and/or agreements with associated vendors and institutions for the Learning Management Systems (LMS) and ITV.
  • Engage in continuous professional development activities, including representing the college in associated statewide organizations such as, NCCCADL, NCCCS VLC, and SARA-NC.
  • Administer approved policies, rules, and regulations assuring that all requested courses meet the applicable standards of ADA, State Authorization, Quality Matters and SACS. Provide CIO with new policy statements as required.
  • Work cooperatively with the CIO in the administration of LMS and to ensure continuous operation of the hardware infrastructure supporting BCC’s online program while ensuring security of college data (student, faculty and staff).
  • Prepare and submit all applicable reports for NCCCS.
  • Generate, analyze, and maintain pertinent data as needed to support Distance Learning activities.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for faculty and staff.
  • Maintain currency with distance learning trends and best practices and make recommendations as appropriate.
  • Provide leadership for Instructional Technologies including selection of online learning platforms, online resources to support distance learning, and the LMS course format.
  • All other duties as assigned.
