Minimum Qualifications
Required: Associate Degree in Criminal Justice or related field and Instructor Certification to teach the various blocks of instruction for the BLET program. Must have Law enforcement experience and hold current law enforcement certification through the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Education Standards Commission or the North Carolina Sheriff’s Training and Education Commission. Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field; Certification through Office of Staff Development and Training as instructor (Department of Corrections); and teaching experience in the community college setting. Position Description
Responsible for law enforcement training programs. Serves as school director for BLET – evaluating curriculum, hiring/evaluation of part-time instructors, and interviewing and selecting students. Design and instruct in-service programs for law enforcement agencies and the Department of Public Safety-Corrections. Responsible for meeting all the requirements of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Standards Division and McDowell Technical Community College.
