Minimum Qualifications

Required:
Master's degree in education or related field (must be from a regionally accredited institution)
Minimum of two years of experience in the fields of tutoring, learning assistance or other related academic support area
Supervisory experience
Demonstrated ability to develop measurable outcomes and assessment strategies to formulate data-informed decisions
Demonstrated commitment to student success
Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects and meet critical deadlines
Ability to develop and apply flexibility, resourcefulness, and creative approaches to unique problems
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse individuals and groups of people
Evidence of collaboration and innovation
Skill in the use of computers and commitment to using technology in education
Ability to provide leadership in anticipating and responding to change
Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college

 Responsibilities:The Director, Learning Commons provides leadership and management for the Learning Commons.  The Director will work with campus colleagues to develop and implement academic support strategies to promote student success and completion.   The Director will be responsible for planning, evaluation, and assessment of Learning Commons services, an essential component for the success of the Learning Commons.  This position reports directly to the Associate Dean, Academic Support. The Director, Learning Commons has the following responsibilities:
 
Focus on a strong culture of evidence through assessment and use of data to improve programs and services to promote student success
 
Develop and implement a comprehensive assessment program for Learning Commons programs and services
 
Supervise Learning Commons staff including coaches, tutors, supplemental instruction leaders, coordinators, and front desk staff
 
Prepare annual budget proposal and administer budget to ensure that college and state regulations are in compliance
 
Maintain communication and messaging regarding services offered by the Learning Commons for students, faculty, and staff
 
Maintain knowledge of current higher education research in retention, student success, and completion
 
Direct the activities of the coaching labs and testing center in support of student success
 
Recruit, train, and schedule tutors, supplemental instructors, and coaches in all subject areas as needed
 
Integrate the use of learning technologies to deliver academic support services as appropriate
 
Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify and respond to needs for academic support at all college sites
 
Represent the Learning Commons in College planning processes and decision-making
 
Investigate proven and promising practices in the delivery of academic support services and testing
 
Ensures compliance with the NCCCS Administrative Code, federal and state laws and regulations, and accreditation requirements.
 
Attends College meetings and serves on College committees as appropriate
 
Performs other tasks as assigned that support the mission and initiatives of the College
