Minimum Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Library Science from a regionally accredited institution.

  • Experience with current version of MS Office or similar programs
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Position Description

 

Supervises Library activities to include personnel, public service, collection development, acquisitions, and technical functions; directs library policy and program development, review, and planning; directs, coordinates, designs, and delivers all seated information literacy activities and provides leadership in information literacy initiatives for the campus; provides professional library services to students, faculty, staff, and community patrons including reference services and information literacy instruction; provides leadership in the application of computer and other technologies related to library and information services; directs, designs, and delivers library outreach and programming.

Essential Duties Summary

 

  1. Supervises Library Services Coordinator, Collection Development and Digital Resources Librarian, and Tutoring Coordinator to include establishing priorities, directing workflow, and evaluating employee performance.
  2. Directs the development and review of library policies and procedures.
  3. Provides leadership for the College in information literacy and library/information services.
  4. Researchers, evaluates, recommends, and coordinates procurement of appropriate resources, equipment and systems related to library services.
  5. Supervises creation and maintenance of library webpages to include instructional support content, research guides, bibliographies, tutorials, presentations, and directions
  6. Collaborates with other College librarians to ensure information literacy instruction, reference service, and availability of appropriate learning resources to all students and faculty.
  7. Ensures library compliance with College, state and federal codes, guidelines, and policies related to accreditation standards, copyright and intellectual property rights, and ADA/Sections 504 and 508.
  8. Provides information and assistance to the College’s administration regarding facilities planning; activities, needs, and issues related to library/information services.
  9. Maintains contact with the College’s academic divisions, departments, programs, and instructors to assess instructional resources and determine future needs; encourages faculty in the exploration, selection, implementation, and use of Library resources.
  10. Maintains strong relationships with College IT department for the benefit of the library.
  11. Directs the preparation and maintenance of statistics, records, reports, and files related to library collections, programs, services, personnel, and budget needs; ensures mandated reports are submitted appropriately.
  12. Provides leadership for the College in library and related information services and information literacy initiatives; supervises planning, scheduling and implementation of information literacy services.
  13. Develops and conducts learning needs and outcomes assessments on all aspects of information literacy and reference services to ensure a high standard is maintained.
  14. Directs strategic planning with respect to the future growth and development of the library.
  15. Leads the library staff in professional development activities.
  16. Serves as chair of the College Library Committee.
  17. Provides reference service and assistance using traditional and virtual methods.
  18. Coordinates and participates in inventory of library materials and collections.
  19. Serves on College committees and taskforces as assigned.
  20. Participates in professional organizations and professional development activities
  21. Serves as contact point for instructor requesting in-class library instruction and maintains library instruction calendar.
  22. Participates in the preparation of library instructional materials, guides, and bibliographies.
  23. Coordinates, designs, and delivers all seated reference, instruction, and information literacy assistance to on-campus students.
  24. Coordinates, designs, and delivers all seated reference, instruction, and information literacy assistance to CECHS students.
  25. Coordinates, designs, and delivers all seated reference, instruction, and information literacy assistance to local high school students
  26. Coordinates, designs and delivers information literacy classes and workshops for students, faculty, and staff.
  27. Coordinates and processes all streaming videos shown for off-campus students.
  28. Coordinates and participates in library section of program review with discipline coordinators/department chairs.
  29. Performs walk-in Help Desk duties (resetting passwords, setting up new user accounts, answering Bb questions).
  30. Performs other duties as assigned.
