Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
- Five years of demonstrated successful experience leading marketing and branding efforts including emerging and traditional media.
- Progressive supervisory experience.
- Robust knowledge of social media, digital content systems management, marketing, advertising, and media relations.
- Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and analytical skills and demonstrate the ability to solve problems.
- Proven ability to deal effectively, cooperatively, and tactfully to provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field
- Eight years of demonstrated successful experience leading marketing efforts, including emerging and traditional media.
- Strong knowledge and use of the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Work experience in marketing research including web metrics.
- Experience in web content management.
Position Description
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: The Director of Marketing and Communications, under the supervision of the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and measuring the college’s marketing strategies, communications, and public relations activities, both external and internal. They also direct the efforts of the Office of College Marketing staff and coordinate at the strategic and tactical levels within the function of the organization.
DUTIES:
- Develops and executes the college’s integrated marketing initiatives.
- Develops a comprehensive public relations program that will enhance the college’s image and position.
- Responsible for planning, evaluating, and reporting on goals and long-range marketing strategies.
- Assure the college’s brand is communicated to all constituencies, both internal and external, all of which are tied directly to the college’s mission, vision, and strategic plan.
- Responsible for the conceptual direction of college marketing, branding, photography, and publications.
- Works with departments/programs on implementing communication/marketing plans that align with college priorities for optimal effectiveness.
- Responsible for crisis communication objectives, as relates to public information, unscheduled closings, etc.
- Maintains a positive relationship with media representatives, ensures regular contact, and coordinates targeted strategic approaches that drive college priorities.
- Negotiates and maintains all vendor/service contracts, coordinating the Request for Quotes (RFQs) process as needed.
- Maintains Expert Database and Speakers’ Bureau and promotes these assets to media and local influencers.
- Develops and administers the college’s marketing budget for maximum effectiveness as well as short and long-term budgets for the marketing and public relations efforts.
- Leads public information processes including legislative requirements, requests, and documentation.
- Oversees the college’s website.
- Responsible for the supervision of employees in the Office of College Marketing.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Institutional Advancement.

- Randolph Community College conducts a background check and drug screening on all full-time new hires.
