Minimum Qualifications

Experience: Three years of experience related to the profession of medical assisting. Demonstrated understanding of the MAERB standards and requirements. Experience teaching in a MAERB accredited Medical Assisting program preferred. Documented education in instructional methodology. Instructional methodology education may be demonstrated by documentation of completed workshops, in-service sessions, seminars, or completed college courses on topics including, but not limited to, learning theory, curriculum design, test construction, teaching methodology or assessment techniques.

Training: Medical or allied health education or training and possess a minimum of an associate degree.  Bachelor degree preferred.

 License or Certificate: Be credentialed in good standing in medical assisting by a credentialing organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) or under International Organization for Standardization (ISO)

Position Description

The Director, Medical Assisting Program; Instructor, functions as the academic administrator for the Medical Assisting Program by providing accessible, quality learning experiences within the classroom, laboratory, and/or distance learning settings; facilitates the learning process to help students be successful; provides accurate, quality academic and career advisement for students; seeks professional development opportunities to implement best practices in teaching within discipline area; maintains office hours according to institutional policy; completes required course assessments and documentation in an accurate and timely manner; attends college meetings, student activities, institutional functions; and contributes to the development of curriculum courses and programs; collaborates with workforce partners to ensure that the program is meeting the needs of business and industry; and partners with other areas of the college to deliver customized training courses as needed.
