Essential Functions:

The Director, Organizational Development and Learning (OD&L) will report to the Vice President, Chief Talent and Equity Officer, leading strategies to support a high-performing learning organization. The position is responsible for managing and supporting the assessment of organizational development needs to inform the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs that facilitate the professional development and continuous learning of all College employees, including emerging leaders. The Director, OD&L will develop, implement, and administer leadership development and training initiatives for the College’s departments, teams, and employees in support of the strategic plan. 

Job Duties

  1. Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to determine professional development offerings and assess the effectiveness of current professional development initiatives;
  2. Perform ongoing needs assessments and review College resources to ensure that learning and development resources exist or developed to support learning needs based upon projected competencies, organizational changes, other external factors, and the strategic plan;
  3. Develop relevant metrics to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services offered through OD&L;
  4. Define, create and manage strategies for the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs that facilitate the professional development, leadership development, and continuous learning for all employees;
  5. Collaborate with staff and faculty to create intentional, customized training to meet their specific professional goals and determine professional development priorities;
  6. Ensure professional development offerings meet the needs of employees who vary by role, job status (full or part-time), experience level, and cultural background, among other characteristics;
  7. Create connections, facilitate relationships, and encourage dialogue among stakeholder groups to build an inclusive learning community; Identify additional opportunities to bolster processes or skills;
  8. Collaborate with the Director, Human Resources and Talent Management to develop a Leadership Academy that supports the Talent Management Plan and delivers comprehensive training programs and learning events to meet professional development and succession planning needs focused on supervisory, management, and leadership development for all employee types and levels;
  9. Work with the Director, Human Resources and Talent Management to develop staff development professional learning enhance customer satisfaction, student retention, and student persistence;
  10. Collaborate with the TLC Coordinator and AVP of Academics and Guided Career Pathways to support faculty engagement efforts to close equity gaps and achieve racial equity in credit-bearing and non-credit courses;
  11. Collaborate with REAP and the data dive teams to design training to engage faculty in implementing evidence-based teaching and learning practices to improve student success;
  12. Collaborate with the Talent and Equity division team members to enhance, develop, and facilitate professional development offerings for the Equity Institute;
  13. Establish self-support training opportunities in the Leadership Academy, Teaching and Learning Center, and the Equity Institute for external partners and community colleges;
  14. Disseminate information about current research and proven practices in teaching and learning and student retention;
  15. Partner with the TLC Coordinator and the Director, Human Resources and Talent Management to support the creation and/or revitalization of new employee and new faculty onboarding, Employee First-Year Experience program, Faculty/Staff Interest Groups (FIGS), Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) focused on the retention, engagement, and success of new employees;
  16. Collaborate with the TLC Coordinator to publish Learning Matters bi-annually;
  17. Collaborate with other areas of the College to develop and facilitate new and innovative formal and informal learning opportunities including, but not limited to workshops, lunch and learns, on-demand learning, retreats, certificate programs, book clubs, professional administrative conferences, leadership academies, and faculty/staff mentoring programs; and
  18. Provide consultation to the VP, and CTEO on initiatives, strategies, and industry practices for employee engagement, professional development, intervention, and implementation of key strategies designed to support talent management and staff/faculty development in alignment with the College’s goals.
