Minimum Qualifications

Education Required:

1. Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution
2. Medical Assisting credential (in good standing) by an organization whose credentialing exam is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) (i.e. CMA, RMA)
3. Evidence of courses/content in educational theory and techniques

Experience Required:

1. Three years of relevant experience in a healthcare facility, including a minimum of 160 hours in an ambulatory healthcare setting performing or observing administrative and clinical procedures as performed by medical assistants. 
2. Two years demonstrated teaching experience in post-secondary institution and/or vocational/technical education. 
3. Experience with direct employee supervision and management

Preferred Qualifications

Education Preferred:

Bachelor’s Degree in science or a health related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution

Experience Preferred:

1. Greater than three years of relevant experience in a healthcare facility, including a minimum of 160 hours in an ambulatory healthcare setting performing or observing administrative and clinical procedures as performed by medical assistants.
2. Greater than two years demonstrated teaching experience in post-secondary institution and/or vocational/technical education. 
3. Experience developing and maintaining an effective curriculum to include outcomes assessment and program evaluation.
4. Experience with national accreditation standards and procedures 
5. Experience with alternate instructional delivery systems to include a learning management system
6. Experience in a community college setting

Position Description

The Program Director in collaboration with the Division Chair provides the vision and leadership required to realize the mission of the Medical Assisting (MA) Program and the college at large. Primary administrative responsibilities include program development/management, budget development/management, maintaining programmatic accreditation/external partnerships and providing operational supervision to full and part time faculty and staff in the department. Instructional responsibilities require a strong MA skill set and the ability to teach students effectively in an instructional environment. The Program Director is a member of the full-time faculty and maintains a teaching load with some administrative release time to carry out duties.
