Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in marketing, public relations or communications.
  • Three years in marketing, PR, media relations, communications or equivalent experience.
  • Exceptional writing and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with a diverse group of people. Flexible, patient, hard worker, organized, and ability to multi-task.
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office products, and experience with Adobe Creative Suite.  
  • Understanding of website design and construction.

Preferred Qualifications

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in Higher Ed Marketing.

Position Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Director of Public Relations & Marketing manages all marketing and external public relations of the College including managing the College’s website. The Director participates with other management staff in developing strategies, plans, and programs to maximize outcomes for the College and to enhance the College’s reputation, recognition, and image, in support of its strategic objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Formulate and implement a strategic public relations and marketing agenda.
  • Lead marketing efforts in campus-wide enrollment campaigns.
  • Maintain administrative systems and organization of department and its resources, including inventory, media clip program, expenses, invoices, bids, PO’s, and files.
  • Manage departmental budget and spending.
  • Track progress of marketing campaigns.
  • Serve as a designated spokesperson for the College.
  • Support content creation efforts for BCC digital properties – website, social media channels, email.
  • Generate timely content for social media presence.
  • Maintain current knowledge of educational advertising trends.
  • Provide collateral creation for all BCC Centers and programs.
  • Serve as College photographer.
  • Proactively and positively represent the College.
  • Support a cohesive atmosphere to coordinate a consistent corporate identity.
  • Advise, coordinate, and assist in the development and production of internal and external communications.
  • Foster media relations in order to generate College exposure.
  • Author and publicize press, advertising, and promotional products.
  • Oversee the creation of traditional and electronic communication of all types (ex. social media, broadcast, print, billboard, and traditional forms of marketing/advertising)
  • Manage College website construction and growth. Serve as point for Website design relative to content and consistency.
  • Manage College message screens.  Serve as content and design creator.
  • Provide graphic and design support to the Office of the President through powerpoints, agenda creation, invitations, etc.
  • Assist and execute special events for the Office of the President (anniversary celebrations, holiday luncheon, opening day, etc.)
  • Develop and implement internal procedures to expedite and control the flow of marketing work and project completion.
  • Manage and update phone (VOIP) messages.
  • Support institutional leadership in engaging campus and community communication.
  • Support College student success agenda.
  • Support and provide detailed information for SACSCOC.
  • Manage confidential information.
  • Design input for facility improvements and upgrades.
  • Create Annual Report for President’s Office.
  • Create Strategic Vision documents.
  • Member of the President’s Leadership Cabinet.
  • Design graduation program and assist in graduation planning, set-up, theme, and décor.
  • Serve as graphic designer.
