Minimum Qualifications

  1. The minimum qualifications for this position include a bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of work experience, preferably in fund raising and/or institutional advancement.  
  2. Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in Business or a related field; (2) partnered with five (5) years of increasingly responsible fund development experience in a non-profit organization. This should include, but is not limited to, expertise in capital campaign management, donor research, accounting and reporting, management, donor tracking, supervisory and administrative responsibilities.
  3. Commitment to being a “team player”
  4. Willingness to participate in community service events
  5. Willingness to carry out institutional effectiveness activities and participate in the life of the college (e.g., serve on committees, participate in activities)
  6. Commitment to the community college “open door” philosophy and the comprehensive community college concept

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Master’s degree in education from a regionally accredited institution.
  2. Experience in fund raising and/or institutional advancement.

 

Position Description

The Director of SCC Foundation is responsible for the development and operation of the college’s fund raising / institutional development program.  Working cooperatively with the Southeastern Community College Foundation Board of Directors, other SCC administrators, SCC faculty and staff, and external individuals and organizations, the Director of SCC Foundation performs or causes to be performed the following essential duties:

              Donor Relations/Fundraising/Special Events

  • Creates and maintains donor relations for the betterment of the college
  • Develops and manages capital campaigns, planned giving and annual campaigns to include campus-wide/employee campaigns.
  • Directs campaign strategy and implementation
  • Manages the campaign process to ensure that the campaign adheres to set campaign schedule.
  • Organizes and oversees implementation of all campaign tasks
  • Schedules regular campaign staff (which may include community members) and campaign leadership meetings, providing meeting agendas and supporting materials.
  • Oversees development of campaign budget and strategic plan for SCC Foundation.
  • Advises campaign material development process.
  • Oversees creation of all campaign-related marketing materials.
  • Develops and manages campaign, tracking, solicitation efforts and campaign progress.
  • Coordinates solicitor meeting and develops solicitation materials.
  • Provides training for campaign volunteers/solicitors.
  • Works with SCC staff and Foundation Board members to develop fundraising proposals.
  • Develops cultivation and solicitation strategies.
  • Develops, manages, and coordinates all fundraising efforts including event planning, which may include evenings and weekends.

              Scholarships/Ambassador Program

  • Serves on the Scholarship Awards Committee.
  • Works with donors to develop guidelines for new scholarships.
  • Plan and facilitate student scholarship recipient luncheon.
  • Coordinates with the Financial Aid and Business Office to assist the awarding process of Foundation and SCC Success scholarships.
  • Serves as staff advisor for the Student Ambassador program, plan and attend ambassador leadership meetings including the year end retreat and manages activity book.

              Administrative

  • Formulates the annual Foundation budget and recommends adoption to the Secretary.  Recommends budget adjustments as required.
  • Works with auditor to complete reports for annual audit.
  • Manages communication with the Foundation Board of Directors, current and prospective donors, campaign solicitors, the public, and any other internal/external stakeholders.
  • Coordinates Foundation Executive and Investment Committee meetings and works closely with each committee chairperson.
  • Coordinates the programs and work of the Southeastern Community College Foundation, Inc., serves as recording secretary of the Foundation, and assists the Secretary and the Board of Directors in the operation of the Foundation.
  • Coordinates the development of and manages special promotional activities, social media presence and other communications outlets to enhance the community’s awareness and understanding of the Foundation’s and how it supports the college’s mission and goals.
  • Coordinates and approves all campus fundraising activities to ensure no conflicts with Foundation campaigns.
  • Manages SCC Foundation computer loan applications and balances.
  • Serves on college committees as assigned.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Dean of Institutional Effectiveness and Advancement.
