Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, Accounting or Finance and five or more years of successful business experience in an ownership or executive management capacity
• Working knowledge of the principles of successful small business management
• Proficiency in all MS Office products
• Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills
• Personal and professional integrity which communicates a sense of mission, leadership, and ability to self-start
• Experience in identifying problems, creating innovative solutions and managing projects
• Proven ability to deal effectively, cooperatively and tactfully with students, business/industry, government and community representatives/citizens, faculty, staff and administrators
• Demonstrated ability to communicate well with a wide assortment of small business client needs and ideas
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Law
• Supervisory experience
• Budgeting experience
• Exposure to Anson and Union County Commerce

Position Description
Job Description
The Director of Small Business and Entrepreneurship serves Anson and Union Counties allowing clients/entrepreneurs to seek business advice and counseling and to facilitate new business creation, business expansion and employment opportunities. Position is responsible for delivery of services and professional development programs, seminars, events and courses. Programs cater to and meet the needs of local, small business owners and entrepreneurs. This position reports to SPCC’s Executive Director of Economic and Workforce Development and is located primarily at the Tyson Family Center for Technology in Monroe, NC.
Job Duties
• Primary responsiblility for overseeing the NC Small Business Center expectations including counselling, edcuation and job creation as outlined in the NCSBC Guidelines
• Lead efforts in Western Union County and collaborate with Wingate University to develop, implement and evaluate the Entrepreneurship Program
• Participate in the development of the vision for Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Small Business Innovation
• Facilitate course development and delivery with community, business and industry leaders
• Work with Small Business Owners across industries (i.e. Finance, Healthcare, Education and Non-Profit)
• Develop strong working relationships with Union County and Anson County Chambers as the preferred resource for Small Business development and training
• Comply with all NC Small Buisness Center Network (SBCN) guidelines and provide Annual Reporting
• Interview, evaluate and hire or contract with presenters/trainers for programs
• As a member of the Economic and Workforce Development team (EWD), collaborate with Deans to support the development credit and non-credit classes
• Assist with the administration of SBC programs in accordance with South Piedmont Community College policies, internal audit procedures, rules, and regulations
• Manage marketing, registration of instructor/vendor contracts
• Work with EWD to evaluate occupational and market trends, and benchmark successful course and programs at other institutions to develop ideas for potentially successful courses while promoting community awareness of program opportunities.
• Ensure maintenance and accuracy of the SBC documentation as required by State/National agencies
• Assist with administration of training programs in accordance with SPCC policy, NCCCS audit procedures, rules and regulations
• Identify qualified persons to serve on SBC advisory board; Meets with advisory committee and follows up on recommendations; maintains meeting minutes.
• Manage the operating budget for the Small Business Center in adherence to SBCN Guidelines.
• Willingness to work nights/weekends as needed including attending and participating in community events.
• Attend SBCN mandatory professional development conferences and network-wide initiatives as required; Complete SBC director credentialing program within three years of hire and continue to maintain professional competency with ongoing training as required.
• Assist Director of Ecomomic and Workforce Development and Vice President in the development, delivery and maintenance of programs and strategic partnerships
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Ecomomic and Workforce Development
