Minimum Qualifications

• A minimum of:
o A Bachelor’s degree or higher in the teaching discipline – or
o An Associate’s degree in the teaching discipline from an accredited institution that is recognized by the United States Department of Education, and five (5) or more years of full-time equivalent experience in the discipline field – or
o Documentation of significant and extensive experience or contributions to the discipline demonstrated through: work experience, technical and performance competency, records of publications, certifications, or other qualifying credentials
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Working knowledge/utilization of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of the equivalent of one academic year of full-time teaching experience at the community college level
• Five or more years of experience using the following Adobe Creative Cloud applications: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver
• Two or more years of experience creating interactive ePublications and animations using Adobe Animate, Flash, or related applications
• Two or more years of experience editing and producing finished video projects using Adobe Premier Pro, Final Cut Pro, or related applications
• One of more of the following: currently valid Adobe certifications in one or more Adobe Creative Cloud applications, currently valid Adobe Specialist certification in Web Design or Visual Design, or an equivalent combination of currently valid certifications relevant to the Digital Media industry
• Familiarity with a course management system such as Moodle
• Knowledge and/or experience with learning outcomes assessment
• Demonstrated innovation within the field of education and/or technology
• Evidence of effective problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
• Evidence of a career that includes a strong work ethic with a proven track record of project completion, multi-tasking, and the ability to handle high-pressure environments

Job Description

The Director of South Piedmont Studios/Digital Media Technology Program Lead is a full-time 12-month staff position located primarily on the OCH Campus in Monroe, NC. Under the direction of the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Director of South Piedmont Studios/Digital Media Technology Program Lead promotes and facilitates the use of technology across programs and courses as an integral part of the overall learning experience for South Piedmont students. The Director maintains equipment for South Piedmont Studios, oversees development of print, audio, and audio-visual materials for use in courses, promotion of programs, and advancement of the College, and provides professional development for faculty and staff. In collaboration with the Chair of the Department of Computer and Industrial Technologies, the Program Lead for Digital Media Technology oversees the Digital Media Technology program, including curriculum and course development, course and program assessment, and supporting adjunct faculty. This position will teach 6 hours each semester/3 hours each summer.

Job Duties

• Collaborate with academic leadership to continuously develop policies and processes for learning strategies to meet college’s strategic goals and improve the quality of courses by establishing measurable outcomes. Provide design, development, technology integration, and planning for curriculum, assessment, and instructional implementation in consultation with administrators, faculty, instructional staff, and subject matter experts
• Maintain South Piedmont Studios hardware, software, budget, project documentation and files, and schedule on both the Monroe and Polkton campuses; assist users with productions from the planning stages to a final version
• Encourage and support faculty to integrate College-generated publications and open source materials into courses
• Assist faculty with implementation of technology as appropriate in all training and education programs
• Travel and present at national/state/local conferences and workshops
• Remain aware of all emerging instructional technologies and make recommendations about system adoptions
• Consult with administrators, faculty, instructional staff, and subject matter experts on the recruitment and selection of qualified editors, content experts, and other support personnel to complete scheduled curricular and content development projects
• Develop supporting materials and media (audio, video, photos, graphics, etc.) for courses based on curriculum guidelines or information provided by or in consultation with subject matter experts and instructors
• Create classroom activities and learning environments that meet the needs of all learners, including high school students, adult learners, and senior populations.
• Exhibit an uncompromising commitment to SPCC as a learning-centered college through the College’s mission, vision, values, core skills and learning outcomes, and delivery of instruction and services
• Acts as chief advocate for the Digital Media Technology program and presents a positive image of the program and the college to both internal and external customers
• Ensures that the Digital Media Technology program contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains currency.
• Lead the recruitment effort for the Digital Media Technology program and assures that promotional literature is current, accurate, and available
• Assure that all faculty members in the Digital Media Technology program are assisting with student advising and providing current, accurate information
• Assist the Department Chair of Computer and Industrial Technologies in maintaining a roster of qualified adjunct faculty for the Digital Media Technology program
• Work with the Department Chair in recruitment, orientation, and mentoring of adjunct faculty
• Perform classroom observations of adjunct faculty in the Digital Media Technology program
• Make recommendations to the Department Chair and Dean Applied Science and Technology for curriculum changes
• Lead Digital Media Technology program faculty in the area of outcomes and assessment as required for SACS COC accreditation
• Maintain and updates all master course syllabi specific to the Digital Media Technology program
• Coordinates the selection of textbooks, library resources, equipment, and supplies to enhance learning and to maintain currency in the Digital Media Technology program
• Lead the Digital Media Technology program’s advisory committee process, program review, and program improvement plans
• Coordinate class scheduling for the Digital Media Technology program as directed by the Department Chair
• Assist the Department Chair and Dean in other ways as needed
• Continue professional development for the improvement of self and the program to meet the needs of a learning-centered college
• Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for the position
• Provide accessibility to students and colleagues as expected in a learning-centered college
• Accept teaching assignments, based on the needs of the college, at one or more of the following: L.L. Polk campus (Polkton), Old Charlotte Highway campus (Monroe), in high school and community locations (Anson and/or Union counties), or in a corrections setting (Anson county).
• Accept teaching assignments scheduled during the day, evening, weekends, or online
• Participate in or support the mentoring process, the SPCC Foundation, and grant identification, preparation, implementation, and evaluation
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Academic Affairs
