Position Description

Announcement Summary

Fayetteville Technical Community College is seeking qualified applicants for this full-time position to plan, coordinate, and organize student activities and events. Provide administrative oversight and resource support to the Student Government Association. Assist student clubs, club advisors, and ensure quarterly club reports are provided in a timely manner and reflect accuracy in the reported data. Coordinate with vendors for periodic student events and follow the College’s procurement process for vendor contracting. Monitor the Student Services public areas, including the student game room, and make corrective actions, as necessary. Provide highly responsible budget management and administrative staff support to the Associate Vice President for Student Services. Qualified candidates will possess excellent computer skills, demonstrate evidence of flexible work experiences, and a willingness to change; be open-minded, fair, and possess the ability to see multiple perspectives; be willing to take and manage risks and accept responsibility for professional and personal growth.

Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Oversight of Student Government leaders, and indirect supervision over students, professional, and clerical staff.

Collect and account for collected funds from game admissions, budget disbursements, and ticket sales.

Drive college vehicles, including buses, in support of student events and the student athletics program. In limited emergency situations such as designated driver illness, provide CDL vehicle driver support to other College divisions.

Assist the Athletics Director and the Team Coaches with game set-ups, support for players, and other activities necessary for successful events.

Assist the College recruiters with table set-ups and other venue requirements at community events, recruiting new students, expanding interest in future attendance to games, student events, and related activities.

Coordinate with housekeeping, facilities, and security for day, evening, and/or weekend events.

Assist with the coordination of annual graduation ceremonies, open houses, and any student services event.

Develop an annual action plan designed to increase student participation in scheduled events hosted on or off-campus.

Meet with faculty, staff, and administrators encouraging increased levels of involvement in student activity programs and attendance to student-team related events. Serve as a resource person to faculty, staff, and students desiring to establish new clubs and/or expand events and activities of existing clubs.

Attend student club meetings on a quarterly basis and promote student attendance to those meetings.

Promote a positive college experience for students through events and activities.

Disseminate information to students, faculty, and staff promoting a collaborative campus climate.

Provide advice, counseling, and intervention when necessary to insure student success and continued compliance with College’s Code of Conduct.

Provide support and assistance to student club advisors and officers and maintain an up-to-date Club Advisors Handbook.

Maintain open communication and exchange of ideas and information with students, faculty, and staff.

Coordinate with Student Government Association members to meet and greet new students providing a strong welcome on the first day of classes.

Assist faculty with efforts to promote student success and retention.

Serve on a variety of institutional and adhoc committees and task forces; research and develop recommendations to continually expand school spirit among faculty, staff and students.
