Position Description
Provides comprehensive clinical services including Screening and Assessment, Crisis Intervention as appropriate, Personal Counseling, Referral Services, and Support Groups. Therapeutic treatment modalities provided as clinically appropriate will include Psycho-education, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. All services will support the mission of the Student Wellness Center. Position is deemed Strictly Confidential.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide individual counseling will be scheduled by appointment and will include weekly sessions as indicated through assessment outcomes. Referral services will be made for long-term chronic therapeutic needs beyond the scope of Student Wellness Center services. Online assessment services for distance learning students will be available through Google suite or the NCC website with a community referral in the specified service area if outside of NC.
- Facilitate groups that target specific needs of marginalized cohorts within the student body including veterans, substance users, and survivors of abuse and trauma. Group sessions will be 1 hour each with no more than 10 students for a period of 8-12 weeks.
- Maintain confidential information and will not release information outside of the Student Wellness Center without the student’s authorized consent.
- Empower students at NCC with personal, social, and community resources for self-development and personal enrichment, thereby enhancing academic success through improved student wellness.
- Maintain release of liability as required by NCC
- Provide services in compliance with the ethical standards and professional practices of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and 42 Code of Federal Regulations (42CFR).
- Serve as an advocate for students in need of accessing community helping agencies and resources.
- Oversight of grants related to wellness services.
- Provide therapeutic clinical services to students face-to-face and via HIPAA compliant telehealth modalities (NCC Google Suite) as needed.
- Provide referrals to helping community partners.
- Maintain evidenced-based online assessment services.
- Facilitate Collegiate Recovery Program.
- Connect at-risk student populations to appropriate resources.
- Provide professional development on social justice issues.
- Will assist with the recruitment of new students and promote a positive and successful learning experience for existing students in an effort to increase student retention, success and completion.
- Serve on college committees as assigned.
- Serve as the Single Stop Coordinator providing day-to-day oversight of operations.
- Supervisor the Student Wellness Center and Single Stop Assistant
- Participate in professional development activities provided by NCC.
- Participate in College events and activities.
- Perform other duties (including instructional duties) as assigned, which contribute to the efficient and effective operation of NCC.
- Participate in and support ongoing assessment, planning and evaluation to improve student learning.
