Position Description
The Director of Transitional and Career Studies will plan, develop, implement, and manage the instructional delivery of services for the Transitional and Career Studies Department. The Director will be responsible for oversight of the Transitional and Career Studies program, which includes English Language Acquisition, GOALS (Gaining Occupational and Life Skills), High School Equivalency preparation, Adult Basic Education, and Adult High School.
The duties of the Director of Transitional and Career Studies include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for assessment and recruitment of both students and instructors; coordinating and evaluating all activities in the program
- Develop and oversee the annual Transitional and Career Studies plan/application; submit and manage the annual budget, and Institutional Effectiveness planning
- Evaluate the program and prepare a plan for continuous improvement
- Coordinate development of course outlines and assist in their implementation
- Establish and maintain good community rapport and promote literacy education throughout the community
- Participate in the development, planning, and implementation of goals and objectives, policies and procedures, new courses, and all supportive activities of the College
- Develop, lead, and coordinate a team of support staff from coordinators to instructional assistants to produce and deliver quality instruction and supportive services to students in the Transitional and Career Studies program
- Monitor courses and instructors and ensure that courses meet high quality standards and state and federal compliance
- Coordinate the recruitment of instructors, as needed, and maintain up-to-date information on instructional materials and techniques
- Develop and implement comprehensive plans including timelines, goals, objectives and benchmarks for the Transitional and Career Studies program
- Recruit, hire, provide orientation, evaluate direction, and handle employee relation issues in a timely manner
- Responsible for divisional compliance with standards and procedures
- Maintain community involvement to enhance the College's networking in the tri-county service area
- Research and develop plans for new course offerings to be presented to the Vice President or Dean of Continuing Education
- Ensure continuous revenue growth needed to meet long and short term goals by identifying opportunities and serving current clients
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean or Vice-President

- Infrequently traveling between buildings on campus, to other campuses, locally, or out-of-town to attend meetings and conferences
