Minimum Qualifications

A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Counseling, Higher Ed Administration, Human Services, or related field with one (1) to three (3) years of experience in a higher education administrative position, with supervisory responsibility is required for this position.    

Preferred Qualifications

Three (3) – Five (5) years of experience in TRIO or similar post-secondary education program is preferred.

Position Description

Under the direction of the Vice President of Student Development, provides administrative and program oversight for planning, organizing, and coordinating the operations of the Student Support Services (SSS) and Upward Bound (UB) programs.

Develops, writes, and submits federal grants for funding to accomplish program objectives.  Supervises all Student Support Services and Upward Bound staff, provides feedback and performs annual performance evaluations.  Provides direction for all aspects of Student Support Services and Upward Bound, in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements.  Assesses and documents progress toward meeting program objectives and grant requirements.  Directs staff in efforts to identify and recruit eligible students.  Collects and uses data in developing and maintaining efficient and effective practices to ensure that the programs are operating efficiently and effectively.  Manages the budget for each program, approves expenditures, and monitors fiscal operations for SSS and UB.  Works with K-12, community agencies, and educational institutions to carry out program activities.  Serves on institutional committees as appointed.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of:  US Department of Education policies, procedures, and regulations related to SSS and UB grant programs.  General knowledge of WCC programs, services, policies, and procedures.  Best practices for advising, retention, and student success.  Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).  Principles and practices of PC’s and related software.  Ability to:  Communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) in a variety of settings, with people from diverse backgrounds, educational levels, and age groups.  Operate a PC, mobile devices, and related software. Use Microsoft Office (word processing, database, presentation, spreadsheets) and relevant applications or internet-based platforms.  Synthesize information and demonstrate analytical skills in reaching sound conclusions.  Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, faculty, administrators, coworkers, and the public.   Prioritize and complete projects and tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.
