Position Description
This is a full-time, twelve-month position in the Instructional Support & Student Services division and will report to the Vice President of Instructional Support & Student Services.
Core duties will include the following:
- Promote work-based learning opportunities to local businesses and through involvement with community and civic organizations, such as the Chamber of Commerce, NC Works, economic development groups, area agencies, and trade associations.
- Assist with coordination of apprenticeship program including using NCRAN data system, providing outreach to business and industry, maintaining an open line of communication with regional representatives, and supporting the high school pre-apprenticeship program.
- Work with the deans, faculty, and staff to promote work-based learning within allowed curriculum programs and to increase the number of programs that offer work-based learning or apprenticeships.
- Work with students to develop worksite placements and coordinate the selection and approval of placements.
- Determine student’s eligibility for work-based learning through a review of reports, data systems, and transcripts.
- Conduct work-based learning orientation sessions for all enrolled students.
- Conduct worksite visits and evaluations during the semester for all work-based learning students.
- Develop and update materials used in the work-based learning program that include student, worksite, and marketing information.
- Understand and use various college data systems such as Self-Service, Watermark, Colleague, and ETrieve.
- Develop and manage budget.
- Maintain accurate paperwork to fulfill requirements of state compliance officer.
- Participate in training opportunities to increase knowledge of work-based learning, apprenticeship, and workforce/career development.
- Serve on college committees and task forces, attend faculty and/or staff meetings as scheduled or assigned, attend college commencement, and other events as deemed appropriate.
- Other duties as required by supervisor.
