A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with two (2) years of experience in workforce development or in the development and administration of academic and vocational programs in a college or university setting is required for this position.

Position Description
Under the direction of the Dean of Continuing Education, performs professional level program duties in the development, organization, and delivery of occupational training programs, in addition to other workforce programming requests to meet business and industry training needs.
Essential Duties: Establishes partnerships and collaborates effectively with local, regional and state economic and workforce development agencies to promote the development of a skilled workforce to meet service area needs. Develops courses, workshops, certification programs, and other training efforts based on identification of needs. Assures records, various reports, data, and other information on programs and activities are submitted and maintained to support program efforts. Provides evaluations of programs and activities and assures that they meet standards of the College and the NC Community College system. Plans, implements, coordinates, and manages Customized Training Program projects for new and existing businesses and industries within the guidelines of the NC Community College System and Wilson Community College. Provides and projects budget information for all program areas. Assists instructors with the development of lesson plans, course outlines and selection of books and materials. Hires, supervises, trains and evaluates instructors. Seeks and applies for workforce development grants and manages grant budget(s). Oversees the Apprenticeship Program for the College. Manages and assists the Dean with scholarship opportunities for Continuing Education students. Markets the scholarship opportunities to the student populations. Plans and coordinates events as required to promote the College and Continuing Education workforce training. Registers students and completes forms and records for payment of instructors. Obtains necessary supplies and materials for program efforts and activities. Serves on institutional committees as appointed.
Qualifications: Knowledge of: Principles and practices of PC’s and related software. Course design and organization, including development of lesson plans and course outlines and knowledge of teaching methods. Needs assessment procedures and expertise in course and instructor evaluation. Adult education theories and practices. Organizational, planning, and administrative skills to coordinate a variety of courses and activities. Ability to: Provide technical leadership in business and industry training programs. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Operate a PC and related software. Coordinate training efforts with a wide range of organizations in a variety of locations. Coordinate a variety of courses and activities simultaneously. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with businesses, industries, organizations and the general public.
