Knowledge and Skills           

• Three - five years of full-time experience as a real estate broker in North Carolina.

• Experience in teaching Pre-licensing, Post-licensing or General Update courses with an acceptable pass rate on the NC Real Estate Exam.

• Approved by the NC Real Estate Commission to teach Pre-licensing, Post-licensing or General Update courses Education Preferred.

• Community College teaching or training experience preferred.

• Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes.

• Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems (Moodle).

• High energy level and ability to engage students.

• Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills. 

• Must have the ability to perform multiple tasks, and work with limited direct supervision. 

• Must be self-motivated and possess excellent inter-personal skills.

• Previous training/teaching experience.

• Program management experience.

 

Physical Demands    

Must be able to travel to other worksites and businesses.  Must be able to transport educational supplies and set-up classrooms.

Position Description

Statement of Primary Purpose

Provide oversight of workforce education programming to meet the needs of the region’s workforce, and teach NC Real Estate classes.  Duties include:  Teaching NC Real Estate Pre-licensing, Post-licensing, and CE classes.  Hire and provide support for part-time instructors in the areas of workforce training (construction, automotive, bartending, etc.), develop schedules, market class, recruit students, work with area high schools to develop training programs, develop partnerships with employers in service area to address industry needs to include work-based learning opportunities.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Instruction in NC Real Estate approved classes.  Under general supervision, this position will prepare and teach the NC Real Estate Broker Pre-licensing, Post-licensing and/or General Update courses to students enrolled in Continuing Education training. The purpose of the instruction is to provide students with the knowledge and understanding to achieve a passing grade on the NC Real Estate Commission’s Real Estate License Exam and have attain necessary occupation-specific and employability skills for success in the Real Estate industry.

• Meet with area employers to identify training needs and develop program(s) as needed.

• Schedule Workforce Training classes for SCC service area.

• Hire, evaluate, and coach instructors.

• Schedule classes, prepare class schedules, facilitate marketing classes, facilitate contracts, register students, collect student registration fees, administer exams, and class evaluations.

• Create course outlines/seek approval/report student credit to Licensure Boards.

• Obtain course approvals on all courses; prepare and submit course outlines/CEU rationales for courses and designate appropriate student resources.

• Supervise workforce training classes and other classes as requested.

• Ensure correct payroll for instructors each month.

• Ensure compliance with state board requirements.

• Manage facilities and recommend equipment, furnishings and software improvements.

• Provide direction, leadership, and guidance to assigned employees.

• Represent the college by participating in community activities/programs that further the economic, social, and environment development of the service area.

• Analyze and solve work problems or assist employees in solving problems.

• Possess general knowledge of all work responsibilities involved in assigned area.

• Interact with students, the public, the community and co-workers in a cooperative, courteous, and professional manner on the phone and in person.

• Maintain files and records.

• Manage distance (online) learning classes.

• Facilitate uploading class content and tests to Moodle for online classes

 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

• Serve on college committees.

• Serve on community boards and committees, as appropriate.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule (may include day, evening, or weekend classes).

Licensing Requirement       

• Hold an active Real Estate Sales or Broker's License.

• Valid NC Drivers’ License.

 

Working Conditions and Environment

Must travel to class locations, and NCCCS meetings throughout the state.  Work schedule must conform to class and meeting needs.

Computer, Copier, Fax, Telephone, Calculator, Printer, classroom equipment, various software applications.
