REQUIREMENTS:
 
 Education/Skills 
 
Required: Associate Degree in related field with a minimum of three years of directly related experience and certified at EMT Paramedic level.  Must have NC Paramedic Level II Instructor credential. Possess or be willing to acquire CPR, PHLTS, ACLS, PALS, PEPP, and First Aid Instructor certifications within six months of employment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
            
 
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in related field. Bilingual; Career Readiness Certificate (CRC)
 
Experience
 
Required: Three years of experience within the past five years of direct contact in critical care/emergency care.
 
 
Preferred: Considerable experience in direct emergency patient care.   Some experience in a community college setting.

HIRING SALARY RANGE

MINIMUM SALARY: $50,000.00 ANNUALLY

MAXIMUM SALARY: Depends on qualifications and experience

Develop and instruct all levels of emergency medical services (EMS) classes as needed.  Coordinate certification and re-certification classes for emergency medical technicians through Continuing Education; to include coordination with the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services (NCOEMS).  Performs duties under the supervision of the Associate Vice President of Workforce Development & Continuing Education.  Some evening and weekend work is required.

  • Maintain EMT-Paramedic Certification level through OEMS.
  • Maintain EMT Paramedic Instructor/Coordinator certification through OEMS at a level II.
  • Maintain CPR Instructor Trainer Certification from national organization.
  • Develop and conduct specialized EMS (PHLTS, ACLS, PALS, PEPP, etc.) training programs and individual must maintain specialty certifications.
  • Instruct initial and re-certification EMS classes.
  • Instruct and evaluate students based on course objectives.
  • Maintain student records and monitor student progress to ensure compliance with OEMS, local educational program entrance and performance requirements in EMS classes.
  • Develop curricula for training programs according to OEMS regulations.  Review materials to ensure the appropriateness of course materials and delivery methods.
  • Review and evaluate instructional results to improve instructional programs and to meet required performance standards.
  • Review and evaluate instructional results to improve instruction for evaluation of student progress.
  • Keep current on subject matter and teaching methodologies; engage in a program of professional development and community service.
  • Coordinate remediation activities to help students succeed in the EMS program; refer students to other supportive services when necessary.
  • Coordinate the development and administration of the institution’s Emergency Medical Services education plan.
  • Instruct and/or coordinate basic through paramedic classes.
  • Complete the process for CoAEMSP accreditation.
  • Coordinate instruction and contract with part-time instructors for in-service training courses in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate specific program management as required by OEMS.
  • Develop contracts, agreements, and placement options for required clinical activities and field experiences.
  • Develop and coordinate faculty development training activities.
  • Develop training programs/plans and schedule according to OEMS regulations.
  • Review, coordinate, and approve preceptor activities for instructors.
  • Complete and submit state reports and documentation where required.
  • Coordinate public training programs for evening and off-campus classes.
  • Deliver and place equipment for instruction where needed.
  • Maintain liaison with local EMS squads/agencies and Duplin County Emergency Medical Personnel; to include attendance at scheduled meetings.
  • Maintain student training records for re-certification purposes.
  • Knowledge of Duplin County EMS Plan.
  • Acquire computer/technology competencies as appropriate to position.
  • Maintain security of personal computer access.
  • Serve on college committees as directed by supervisor.
