Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree in related field of study such as Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Information Technology or other related field from a regionally accredited college/university.   

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience in an online environment, a strong background in online instructional design, and/or knowledge or ADA compliance is preferred.  Blackboard LMS training knowledge preferred.

Position Description

Position Description:

The Distance Learning Coordinator supports the implementation, development, integration and ongoing operation of the college’s Learning Management System (Blackboard ).  Under limited supervision, the Distance Learning Coordinator will provide support to Blackboard users and administer the Blackboard  (Bb) learning management system.  Additionally, the position will provide training to staff and faculty on the use of the college’s LMS, as well as other topics related to teaching online.  This position will provide technical support to students and supervise a computer lab available for student use and academic testing.  

Essential Responsibilities:  

  • Performs system administration functions by creating courses and accounts, uploading rosters, performing backups and restores and archiving course designs.
  • Maintains a highly detail-oriented disposition with demonstrated capacity to work in a team-oriented environment while interfacing with various departments to manage and support the use of online learning systems.
  • Researches and implements improvements for distance learning related to student success initiatives.
  • Organizes and prioritizes workload in order to meet necessary deadlines.
  • Makes independent judgements/decisions within established guidelines.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and works well in a team environment.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Manages and resolves LMS support requests from students and faculty.
  • Provides excellent customer service to all constituents, including but not limited to faculty, staff and students.
  • Coordinates training and education related to the use of Blackboard.
  • Assists with the development of educational processes as they relate to distance learning.
  • Oversees the installation of all system updates, upgrades, building blocks, and other software integrated with Blackboard and collaborates with the Dean of Learning Resources to establish system defaults, policies and procedures, and strategic plans for system use and expansion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Learning Resources.
