Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate Degree from an accredited institution
  • Excellent electronic and mechanical skills
  • Hold a Federal Aviation Administration Remote Pilot Certificate also known as the Part 107 license
  • Progressive industry experience in Unmanned Aerial Systems
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Commitment to community college philosophy and student success
  • Knowledge of flight controls, aerodynamics, the National Airspace System (NAS), aviation weather, aviation safety, ethical airmanship, FAA Registration, and community-based safety guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent pilot skills
  • 4+ years of experience working for another company as a drone pilo
  • Experience with multiple different types of drones
  • Excellent photography skill

            

Position Description

Since quality instruction is the primary function of the college, it is the principal responsibility of each Instructor to effectively and efficiently stimulate learning in every course. The purpose of this position is to provide a comprehensive, educational instructional program committed to quality teaching and successful student achievement. This course provides proper technique, safety, and detail which are essential skills of trades professionals. Format for the course will include classroom instruction and individualized demonstrations of skills utilized in the field.  

Essential Duties:

  • Teach assigned classes using a variety of instructional methods to achieve student learning according to expected outcomes.  Appropriately teach or present information, ideas, and skills in ways that accommodate different learning styles of a diverse student population.
  • Ensures that all necessary documentation is kept current and delivered in a timely manner
  • Stay up to date on current technology and incorporate it into class learning
  • Determine need for supplies; ensure proper storage and security of supplies
  • Prepares lesson plans, course overviews and course syllabi
  • Create classroom activities and learning environments that meet the needs of all learners, including high school students, adult learners, and senior populations.
  • A willingness to teach in the day, evening, on Saturday, at unconventional times or via distance learning as necessary
  • Check drones before a flight to ensure safe and proper operation
  • Analyze weather forecasts to ensure safe flights
  • Document pre- and post-flight logs
  • Monitor drones during flight
  • Plan drone flight routes
  • Navigate drones along designated paths
  • Gather information or produce aerial photographs, as needed
  • Perform equipment testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Classroom instructional techniques and proce­dures.
  • Principles and procedures of academic and instructional program development and administration in the area of assignment.
  • Current trends, research, and development in the area of assignment.
  • Principles and procedures of record keeping.
  • Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regu­lations, as appropriate.
  • Flight controls, aerodynamics, the National Airspace System (NAS), aviation weather, aviation safety, ethical airmanship, FAA Registration, and community-based safety guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of UAV related computer applications and the ability to quickly learn new computer software

Ability to:

  • Prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities.
  • Create effective instruction for delivery in both online and physical classrooms while maintaining compliance with ADA standards.
  • Interpret and apply federal, state, and local policies, proce­dures, laws, and regulations.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

The successful candidate must begin work on September 12, 2022. Salary is dependent upon qualifications, experience, and labor market.
