Minimum Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

  • Professional skills, knowledge, attributes and Developmentally Appropriate Practices within the Early Childhood Education profession. 
  • Classroom and laboratory instructional techniques and procedures.
  • Current trends, research and development in Early Childhood Education.
  • Principles and techniques involved in test development and administration.
  • Pertinent state and local laws, codes, and regulations related to early childhood.

 
Ability to:

  • Work independently in the absence of supervision.
  • Interpret and apply NAEYC standards and Early Childhood Education program policies. 
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Interpret and apply College goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative-working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:
    1. Making observations
    2. Reading and writing
    3. Communicating with others
    4. Operating assigned equipment
    5. Handling varied tasks simultaneously
  • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following:
    1. Standing or sitting for extended periods of time
    2. Operating assigned equipment
    3. Handling varied tasks simultaneously 
    4. Bending, stooping, climbing or lifting up to 35 pounds
  • Maintain mental capacity, which allow the capability of:
    1. Making sound decisions
    2. Responding to questions
    3. Demonstrating intellectual capabilities

 
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:
 
Required Minimum Education/Training:

  • A Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Child and Family or a Master’s degree in a related field. 
  • 18 graduate semester hours in Education.
  • Proficient in various computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite.

 
Required Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum of three years qualifying professional experience.

DEFINITION:
To provide classroom and laboratory instruction, face-to-face and online, to students through lecture, demonstration, laboratory exercises, hands-on activities, role play, and testing.
 
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: 
Receives general supervision from the Early Childhood Education Program Director.
