Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education or related field required. Master's degree preferred. • Minimum of two years' experience in an education setting, preferably in a community college • Demonstrated personal and professional competence for responsibilities assigned • Experience with diverse populations strongly preferred • Ability to work cooperatively in a congenial and professional manner with minimal supervision with numerous groups across the college, the public-school systems, and state and regional groups • An understanding of and a commitment to, community college education and the concept of a learning-centered, open admissions institution, community college philosophy, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and instructional technology • Demonstrated effective and professional written and oral communication skills and organizational skills

Position Description

Job Summary: The Liaison is responsible for serving as the College's representative to the Early College programs and fostering the development of positive relationships between the higher education partner(s) and the LEA by bridging communication gaps and supporting dialogue. The Liaison duties also include advising, which will require knowledge of the students' chosen field of study, as well as an understanding of registration, testing, and other procedures. Other responsibilities include completion of necessary paperwork, serving on committees, attending College functions, and recruitment and retention activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Serve as liaison between the College and Early College • Assist in the development and refinement of five-year plans of study combining secondary and postsecondary work • Work with secondary and postsecondary staff to ensure coordination of high school and college schedules that allow access to required coursework • Assist secondary staff with coordination of postsecondary registration • Coordinate administration of college placement tests and assist with application process • Assist with the coordination of collaborative staff development activities for Early College and College personnel • Teach ACA 111 • Serve as an academic advisor to students as assigned • Educate the College and community about the Early College programs • Collaborate with secondary and postsecondary disability service staff to ensure proper student support • Participate in continuance communication with the college's faculty with regard to student performance • Coordinate progress reports twice per semester • Serve on College committees as requested by Division Dean or Director, Vice-president for Learning, or the President • Represent the College at events for prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors, and other individuals to promote and market the Early College and College programs, including student/parent information nights. • Establish and maintain an active role on the assigned high school campus • Perform other duties as assigned Related Responsibilities: • Coordinate textbooks for the high school in coordination with the Mitchell bookstore • Assist with events and activities at the Early Colleges as needed • Attend scheduled or called College, divisional or other meetings unless prevented by assigned duties. • Complete and submit in a timely manner paperwork such as grade reports, financial forms, class coverage forms and others as necessary for the efficient and effective operation of the College; • Comply with College policies and procedures • Remain current in the field of study by keeping abreast of professional literature, participating in professional organizations, taking classes and attending conferences and workshops as feasible and appropriate • Participate in and help to develop recruitment and retention activities Surroundings/Environment: Standard classroom environment, usually indoors, away from elements, with moderate noise. Physical Effort: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain a stationary position for an extended period; move about the campus, operate and position computers, as needed; and frequently communicate with students. The employee may occasionally move up to 25 pounds. Scheduling: This is a full-time position. Availability for both day and evening employment on any Mitchell Community College site (or arranged off-campus courses) is required. Travel: Local travel is required, including between campus locations. Out of state travel is limited, but may be required for special trainings/conferences.
