DEFINITION

To create, fund, and administer world-class education and engagement opportunities for the CFCC campus and beyond. 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

This full-time position creates, coordinates, and oversees powerful and engaging arts education residency opportunities through supporting CFCC curricular programs, collaborating with community organizations, and New Hanover and Pender County school systems.   They support such programming financially through the writing of grants and research to identify and secure new funding sources in the community and beyond. This position oversees departmental assessment, as well as administers and oversees the Broadway for a Better World initiative. 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

  • Receives general direction and supervision from the Vice President for Advancement and the Arts.
  • Exercises supervision over Community Engagement Specialists, Event Staff, Volunteers, and Student Interns.

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS 

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Due to the operating hours and variety of tasks involved in this position, it is critical that this position works with a great deal of independence with sound judgment.

  • Develop and maintain community and on-campus artist residency and arts education relationships.
  • In coordination with the CFCC instructors, community organizations, and visiting artists develop, manage, and implement meaningful educational arts residency programs.
  • Coordinate logistics in planning and implementing artist residency programs on-site and with artists.
  • Be in attendance and support artist residency programs.
  • Speak in community forums about our education and outreach programming.
  • Continually research and stay briefed on current trends in the arts education and engagement field.
  • Develop annual Curricular Connections publication along with other promotional and educational materials.
  • Research and write grants to support artist residency and arts education programming.
  • Support other fundraising efforts for arts education and access programs.
  • Promote and support the Broadway for a Better World grant program in collaboration with the Arts Council of Wilmington and New Hanover County, as well as coordinate and host grant recipients at performances.
  • Oversee departmental assessment program.
  • Design, catalogue, disseminate, and report artist residency, guest, artist, volunteer, renter, student, and staff assessments; work with CFCC institutional assessment to provide data needed and share our findings when needed.
