Position Description

This position will provide direct supervision and oversight for the Career and College Promise Program Career and Technical Education pathways and will be responsible for the review and approval of Career and Technical Education Career and College Promise pathways. This position will collaborate with secondary partners and colleges regularly and will be responsible for presentations at both state and national events, providing support and guidance to secondary partners and community colleges regarding Career and College Promise Career and Technical Education policies and procedures. Additionally, this position will assist the Director of Academic Programs and the Director of Career and Technical Education in the coordination, integration, and implementation of the elements of the Perkins V Act with Career and College Promise Career and Technical Education pathways. The position will have regular contact with representatives from the 58 community colleges including community college Career and College Promise Coordinators Chief Academic Officers, Presidents, System Office administrators, and the general public to provide information regarding comprehensive career and technical education, certified career pathways, and Career and College Promise pathways aimed at meeting the Perkins postsecondary performance measures.  The position will also facilitate technical assistance and professional development for faculty and staff regarding permissible Perkins grant activities, equity, career pathways, best practices and strategies for improvement of Career and College Promise Career and Technical Education pathways performance and accountability. This position will also be responsible for maintaining the Career and College Promise Career and Technical Education Moodle page and will work with System Office staff to update Career and Technical Education content on the Career and College Promise website. Requires strong computer skills, flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff to provide quality customer service to the 58 community colleges within the System as well as external partners and stakeholders.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/AND ABILITIES: Strong knowledge of laws, regulations, policies and procedures related to Career and College Promise (CCP) Career and Technical Education (CTE), Perkins V Act and other applicable federal workforce programs and laws; Knowledge of and understanding of the community college mission as it relates student enrollment and engagement to support career and technical education workforce needs in North Carolina; Knowledge of website development and management skills and database development and management; Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills including the technical writing and editing skills; Ability to speak effectively before large group; Strong knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office and related software to generate documents, reports, and presentations; Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment as well as the ability to work effectively independently; Ability to prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines;

PREFERENCES: Experience working a as Career and College Promise Coordinator/Director.
