Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Requirements (Applicant must meet all of the minimum requirements)

1. Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent;
2. Must have a minimum of three years of full-time or equivalent experience in the electrical/HVAC field.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

1. Associate’s degree;
2. Five years of full-time or equivalent experience in the electrical/HVAC field;
3. Universal EPA Certification;
4. Asheville City Journeyman’s Card;
5. Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language.

Position Description

Job Description Summary

Performs a variety of technical tasks related to the repair and maintenance of electrical equipment, generators, life safety, general
maintenance, and HVAC.

Duties

1. Assists Electrician pulling wire and running conduit for projects on campus.

2. Repairs College-owned electrical equipment.

3. Performs monthly inspection of fire alarm system.

4. Inspects generators.

5. Locates and repairs electrical system failures in heating and cooling systems.

6. Performs general and preventative maintenance that is deemed necessary by the Associate Director of Plant Operations.

7. Investigates problems and performs repairs on equipment.

8. Prepares and presents estimates of the cost of parts, equipment, and supplies of proposed installation or repairs.

9. Complies with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety protocols and the maintenance of a clean

work area.

10. Contributes to the College Vision, Mission, Values, and Welcoming College statement.

11. Supports workforce diversity in all its aspects.

12. Performs other duties as assigned.
