Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's of Library/Information Science program or have completed Master’s Degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution.  
  • Knowledge of library services related technologies.
  • Experience working in the library field. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution with a concentration in information systems.
  • Experience with computer applications and systems in libraries, including technical skills related to hardware and software.
  • One year of experience working in an academic library. 
  • Experience delivering student centered reference and instructional services in an academic library environment.
  • Experience with library related technology such as, LibGuides, SirsiDynix or other library management systems, and Moodle or other online course content management systems. 
  • Completion of at least one online course as a student or instructor.

Position Description

General Job Description:

The Electronic Services Librarian reports directly to the Director of  Library Services and has primary responsibility for the development, implementation and support of electronic library resources and services. This position also performs a variety of public service and instructional activities. During the evening hours, this Librarian is responsible for supervising activities in the Library and the Library Computer Lab.

 

 Duties:

TECHNOLOGY

  • Monitor and troubleshoot access to electronic library resources and services.
  • Serve as technical liaison with vendors of electronic library resources and services. 
  • Investigate, recommend, and implement new technology tools to enhance and strengthen access to resources for teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with NC LIVE and Computer Services Department to manage proxy server configuration changes and issues.
  • Assist Director of Library Services with website design and content, ADA compliance, and social media.

 

PUBLIC SERVICES 

  • Provide comprehensive reference service in-person and online to faculty, staff, students, and other library patrons.
  • Assist library patrons in the use of computer equipment and software.
  • Supervise activities of the Library Services Department during the evening hours and perform closing procedures.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES 

  • Teach in-person or online Information Literacy classes and serve as embedded course librarian as needed. 
  • Create and maintain interactive, digital learning tutorials and courses in support of library instruction.

 

RESOURCE MANAGEMENT 

  • Participate in collection development of print and electronic resources.
  • Maintain, analyze, and report usage data of electronic library resources and services.

 

OTHER LIBRARY DUTIES 

  • Maintain up-to-date work procedures. 
  • Identify and pursue grant opportunities.  

 

DEPARTMENTAL EXPECTATIONS 

  • Participate in activities that contribute to individual professional development in support of the mission of the department. 
  • Participate in departmental, advisory, and institutional meetings, and announced co-curricular activities of the College. 
  • Actively contribute to the annual planning process. 
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Dean of Library Services.
