Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum of three years’ work experience in EMS
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Working knowledge/utilization of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications
• Current NC or NREMT, EMT or Paramedic credential
Preferred Qualifications
• Associates degree or higher
• 5 or more years of work experience in EMS
• Evidence of being detail-oriented
• Evidence of effective problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
• Evidence of a strong work ethic with a proven track record of project completion, multi-tasking, and the ability to handle high-pressure environments
• Evidence of a willingness to accept responsibility for professional and personal growth
• Current certifications of HCP, ACLS, PALS, and ITLS/PHTLS Instructor
• Certification as an EMT or Paramedic Level I or II Instructor
• Experience teaching at the community college level
Position Description
Job Description
The EMS Instructor is a part-time position located on the OCH Campus in Monroe, NC and teaches in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings. Under the direction of the EMS Program Director, the EMS Instructor is responsible for preparing, delivering didactic, and laboratory education that parallels the NHTSA, NC Office of EMS, and National Standards curriculum.
Job Duties
• Exhibit an uncompromising commitment to SPCC as a learning-centered college through the College’s mission, vision, values, core skills and learning outcomes, and delivery of instruction and services
• Perform a variety of administrative duties in support of the EMS education program.
• Maintain a variety of regular and confidential documents including general correspondence, reports, class schedules, forms, contracts, and memorandums from rough draft or from verbal instructions; prepare copies of documents; distribute information
• Update and maintain files as requested by the directors; assist with forms and collection of data as requested
• Demonstrate high-level professionalism
• Participate in institutional, advisory, and program/instruction committees, campus activities, and representation of the college in the community
• Participate in program reviews
• Continue professional development for the improvement of self and the program to meet the needs of a learning-centered college
• Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for the position
• Provide accessibility to students and colleagues as expected in a learning-centered college
• Participate in student recruitment, retention, advising, and registration activities
• Perform other duties as assigned by the EMS Program Director
