Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, or business administration or closely related field; supplemented by three (3) years previous experience and/or training that includes workforce development, career development services, higher education, recruitment, strategic planning, and community relations; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina driver’s license.

Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization: Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions.

Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Dexterity: Requires the ability to perform skilled coordinated movements, such as operating a motor vehicle, computers, general office equipment, and audio/visual equipment.

Position Description

  • Responsible for the creation of a strategic approach to maintain and develop relationships with employers with specific outcomes relating to new internships, experiential and work-based learning experiences, full-time jobs, as well as expanded networks for the College; seeks to develop a strong pipeline of opportunities for all academic programs at PCC.
  • Support all employer relations initiatives including the coordination and marketing of on-campus recruiting activities; provide outreach to faculty, staff, and employers to inform of career trends, relevant career and job search information; market services to all stakeholders; champion activities focused on communicating campus resources to local and regional business leaders.
  • Research markets for additional employer recruitment and for professional opportunities relevant to the PCC population.
  • Participate regularly in local community business events and targeted professional organizations.
  • Support activities sponsored by internal and external entities focused on solutions designed to optimize on- boarding activities with employer partners and/or updating current skills.
  • Support on-campus events for specialized populations or industries; research recruitment trends and best practices for employer relations.
  • Engage stakeholders to facilitate the alignment of services to meet business and industry needs; work with employers across all industries, gathering information on employment trends and professional skill needs.
  • Support the needs of local business and industry through various methods including, but not limited to the facilitation of specific and targeted training programs.
  • Coordinate with partners to identify and market student talent based on a diverse pool of qualified applicants.
  • Connect employers with College faculty/staff to ensure a smooth hand off regarding employer needs.
  • Construct and manage balanced scorecards, and/or value-chain analysis to indicate project movement.
  • Research and establish learning outcomes with employers, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Attend workshops, seminars, and other professional development activities.
  • Maintain detailed records of employer contacts, services utilized and potential opportunities and enter data, and/or processes various records and reports within Colleague, Informer, Moodle, and College Central Network (CCN); generate monthly/quarterly reports of employer contacts and compile reports surrounding job search database.
  • Partner with faculty to develop career pathways based on industry needs with modular and/or stackable industry-recognized credentials and a blended approach of curriculum and/or short-term training learning strategies.
  • Support career services marketing materials creation, evolution, and dispersal; methods of marketing include, but are not limited to physical displays, electronic presentations, social media, and/or events.
  • Provide career and job search coaching to students including, but not limited to, career fair preparation, conducting internship and job searches, Internet job searches and other topics as requested by student groups and/or faculty.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the Career Services Department by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
