Position Description
Continuing Education instructional positions teach courses in a variety of subject areas, at multiple locations in Iredell county or online.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Prepare and teach assigned classes and create course outlines and lesson plans. • Develop course syllabi and provide appropriate written information to students concerning course evaluation and criteria. • Facilitate student learning through in-class, interactive activities; using appropriate technology. • Assess student learning and provide appropriate feedback. • Monitor and report student progress and maintain current class attendance rosters. • Maintain accessibility to students, faculty, and staff. • Identify and resolve barriers to student success and make appropriate referrals. • Carry out a program of self-evaluation to determine instructional effectiveness. • Identify and implement assessment measures in compliance with state and federal policy that achieve course, program, and College learning outcomes. • Maintain up-to-date knowledge within teaching field. • Notify supervisor of any class changes or cancellations and post course change signs on classrooms. • Prepares and submits instructional records, reports, and grades established by institutional policy. • Abide by all rules, policies, procedures, and guidelines
Related Responsibilities: • Promote the College’s mission, values, and vision. • Assists in student recruitment and retention. • Participate in departmental and divisional orientation and training sessions. • Completes other duties and assignments as directed. Clinical Coordinator: Schedules and supervises students' clinical rotations, Orients preceptors to a level acceptable to the CoAEMSP; Simulation Facilitator: Maintain simulation equipment in the EMS lab, Maintain scenarios for the appropriate TSOP, Coordinator and maintain maintenance and security of simulation equipment; SPR/AHA Facilitator: Schedule CPR and AHA classes, Coordinate Instructors, Purchase and maintain equipment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Computer proficiency and a commitment to the use of technology in instruction. • Strong oral and written communication skills. • Ability to work with a diverse population. • Demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to the unique nature and role of the College as a learning-centered institution.
Education and Experience Requirements: • Proven knowledge of the subject and appropriate educational credential. Must hold AHA Instructor credential in BLS, ACLS and PALs
Surroundings/Environment: Surroundings vary based on the content of the course. Physical Effort: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to maintain a stationary position; move about the classroom, operate and position tools or controls; and frequently communicate with students. The employee may occasionally move up to 15 pounds.
Scheduling: This is a part time position. Normal working hours are dependent on the demand and request for services, and may include day, evening or weekend hours. Travel: Local travel may be required, including between campus locations.
