Minimum Qualifications
Paramedic Level II Instructor
Current EMS Credential at the level of application or higher
Two (2) years of teaching experience as a Level I EMS instructor at the level of application
EMS Education Administration Course or National Association of EMS Educators Level II Course
OEMS Instructor Workshop completed no greater than 12 months prior to application
Bachelor’s Degree or higher
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to speak Spanish is preferred.
Position Description
This position is responsible for providing exemplary collaborative leadership. The director will implement policies/procedures, supervise and evaluate assigned personnel, facilitate learning process(es), engage in recruitment, retention, completion, and crosswalk efforts, and promote active learning within all emergency science programs.
- Ensures program(s) are in compliance with the requirements for accreditation, certification, and other standards as stipulated by NCCCS, OEMS, CoAEMPS and SACS/COC
- Reviews, evaluates, and assesses departmental programs, facilitating innovation in instructional development in keeping with mission and vision of the College
- Evaluates all aspects of the emergency science programs, striving to improve instruction, policies, procedures, facilities and quality of graduates
- Facilitates communication of departmental and/or college information to the departmental faculty
- Assists departmental faculty in course planning, instructional delivery, and classroom management
- In collaboration with the dean of performance, prepare a master course schedule each semester
- Manage departmental budget, coordinate the requisition of resources and services including equipment, supplies, and facilities, recommend departmental needs during the annual planning process
- Identify new program needs
- Facilitate changes and revisions to current programs
- Supervise and evaluate emergency medical sciences faculty according to college and departmental policies including class observation
- Recommend individuals for part time appointments
- Establishes and/or maintains an effective emergency services advisory committee
- Identifies and recommends professional development needs of the departmental faculty
- Attempts to resolve student grievances with instructors and assist faculty with classroom management
- Initiates and maintains affiliation agreements between the college and clinical agencies
- Coordinates the classroom and clinical components of courses
- Prepare and teach courses within the department
