Blue Ridge Community College is currently accepting applications for an Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist. The Environmental Health, and Safety Specialist's primary purpose is to fulfill the requirements of the NC Community College System Environmental Health and Safety Contract. This position will be based in Eastern NC (location to be determined) but will perform tasks at community colleges throughout NC.
Education: Associate degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Environmental Science Technology, or related field required.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience at a professional level in an environment and position or positions that are specifically related to environmental safety and health.
Knowledge and Skills: Will possess strong personal and professional integrity, effective verbal and written communication skills, and a commitment to safety. Knowledge of NC Occupational Safety & Health standards and NC Department of Environmental Quality standards. Use of Microsoft Office products Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Preference will be given to candidates with strong public speaking skills who have experience conducting OSHA safety training courses including but not limited to Hazard Communication, Bloodborne Pathogens, Chemical Hygiene, and Electrical Safety.
The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines.
