  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three or more years of ESL experience at the postsecondary level and/or with adult learners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • North Carolina Adult ESOL Specialty Certificate
  • Master’s degree
  • Fluency in Spanish

This instructional position will serve the workforce needs of an employer within the college’s service area.  The Chatham County employer will offer ESL courses to help incumbent employees learn conversational English and prepare them for advancement.

Essential Duties

 

  • Collaborate with business representative to design ESL program that meets business needs.  Prepare lesson plans and course material that facilitate optimal learning.  Assess student progress.
  • Communicate regularly with business representative and supervisor regarding student successes and challenges.  Adapt teaching strategies as needed to continually improve student learning.
  • Employ appropriate and diverse teaching and learning strategies, including individual, group, hands-on and contextualized instruction, as well as lecture and discussion. Incorporate instructional technology as available and appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, complete required documentation, and submit reports by established deadlines.
  • Adhere to business and institutional policies and procedures.
