Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business administration, public administration, student development, finance, accounting or related field of study from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Experience with IPEDS, FISAP and NCHED
  • Community college experience in the administration of student financial aid programs
  • Colleague experience

EExecutive Director, Financial Aid

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Executive Director of Financial Aid oversees all operations related to determination of scholarships and financial aid need and packaging of financial aid awards, financial aid advising, the College's student employment programs, loan programs including default management efforts, and institutional regulatory compliance for all federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs. The Executive Director has responsibility for establishing, directing, and coordinating the development, implementation, and assessment of financial aid policies and procedures that support recruitment efforts and assist the College in achieving its vision and mission of student success and service to the community. The Executive Director develops and implements annual plans, coordinates and participates in outreach to external stakeholders, identifies and secures resources, conducts research, prepares formal reports for external regulatory organizations, and recommends and monitors a budget.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, finance, accounting or related field of study from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Three (3) years’ administrative experience in student financial aid programs

OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (List the major functional elements of the position. Under each, describe the required duties, tasks and responsibilities of the work assigned.

  • Provides coordination of the financial aid process for the Office of Financial Aid, including

development and implementation of College financial aid procedures and guidelines that are efficient, effective and student-centered

  • Supervises Financial Aid Office team that supports the mission, goals and objectives of the College 
  • Directs the financial aid award process in accordance with current Federal and State regulations and College policies and procedures
  • Supervises day-to-day operations of the Financial Aid Office
  • Interprets rules and regulations in regards to financial aid issues, policies, and procedures
  • Advises students, faculty and other College staff regarding financial aid issues, policies, and procedures
  • Initiates technological solutions to ensure efficient and effective student-centered financial aid services
  • Ensures compliance with established institutional and departmental policies, procedures, and standards related to data integrity and financial aid regulations
  • Submits reports to governmental agencies and other sources of student financial aid funds
  • Attends meetings and conferences of the financial assistance community
  • Represents the College and the Financial Aid Office at on-campus and off-campus events
  • Maintains effective working relationships with various College departments
  • Collaborates with the Executive Director for the Foundation with scholarship awards and other funding through the Foundation
  • Participates in appropriate committees and task forces as assigned
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of state and federal (Title IV) financial assistance programs, compliance and reporting standards
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of student financial needs, management methods, practices and procedures
  • Demonstrates knowledge of accounting, budgetary, and management principles, practices, and procedures
  • Demonstrates knowledge of principles and processes for delivering class-leading customer services. This includes student needs assessment, establishing quality standards and metrics for services, and the evaluation of customer satisfaction

  • Plans, implements and monitors budgets in an educational environment
  • Manages personnel resources through motivating, training, developing, and directing people as they work
  • Demonstrates organizational skills in handling and directing multiple and complex assignments and projects
