Position Description

The Maintenance Technician will perform semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment. 

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Perform basic repairs to facilities and equipment as needed
  • Assist in facilities maintenance including basic plumbing, painting, carpentry and electrical
  • Operate and care for power equipment and hand tools
  • Observe mechanical devices while operating and determine potential concerns
  • Troubleshoot electrical components and repair as needed
  • Maintain campus lighting system including replacement of bulbs and ballasts as needed
  • Repair or replace defective parts as needed throughout all campus facilities
  • Change air filters periodically and service all air handlers as needed
  • Maintain service records on all equipment and repair work
  • Ability to move furniture between offices and buildings
  • Ability to assist with setups and tear downs for college events
  • Remove debris from campus after inclement weather
  • Have working knowledge of common methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the carpentry, painting, electrical and mechanical trades
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to anticipate task to be performed and begin without waiting for instructions to do so
  • Ability to read basic electrical schematics
