Position Description
The Maintenance Technician will perform semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Perform basic repairs to facilities and equipment as needed
- Assist in facilities maintenance including basic plumbing, painting, carpentry and electrical
- Operate and care for power equipment and hand tools
- Observe mechanical devices while operating and determine potential concerns
- Troubleshoot electrical components and repair as needed
- Maintain campus lighting system including replacement of bulbs and ballasts as needed
- Repair or replace defective parts as needed throughout all campus facilities
- Change air filters periodically and service all air handlers as needed
- Maintain service records on all equipment and repair work
- Ability to move furniture between offices and buildings
- Ability to assist with setups and tear downs for college events
- Remove debris from campus after inclement weather
- Have working knowledge of common methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the carpentry, painting, electrical and mechanical trades
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to anticipate task to be performed and begin without waiting for instructions to do so
- Ability to read basic electrical schematics
