Minimum Qualifications

  • general knowledge of electrical, HVAC and plumbing
  • ability to operate hand tools, testing instruments, and small power tools
  • ability to safely work with mild chemicals common to the trade and to do so in a manner safe to oneself, others in the area of the work, and to the environment
  • must be knowledgeable about safety procedures
  • ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing and to take instructions from either format
  • ability to work from architectural plans, drawings and operational and maintenance manuals
  • ability to work effectively with other members of the department and public
  • valid North Carolina driver's license
  • Associate’s Degree required
  • five years’ experience in a working supervisory position
  • demonstrated supervisory skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • experience in Facility Operations is preferred

Position Description

Job Summary:

The Facilities Support Services Supervisor will help coordinate the daily tasks of employees in the maintenance and housekeeping departments. This individual is also responsible for repair and maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing items; as well as general building maintenance. A variety of trade skills is necessary to be successful in this position.

 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • work daily with the Director of Facilities Support Services to schedule and perform work assignments
  • help with the maintenance needs of the campus to assist with college functions, programs and activities
  • perform routine maintenance in house, and major work repairs on equipment with appropriate vendors as needed
  • scheduling of varying numbers of facilities employees (maintenance and housekeeping)
  • fix and repair all campus equipment in a timely manner
  • maintain shop and work site in a clean and orderly manner
  • perform scheduled preventive maintenance on all College facilities and equipment
  • schedule the relocation of office equipment, furniture and supplies for all College faculty and staff as requested
  • report all hazards and safety infractions to the Director of Facilities Support Services
  • maintain and control inventory of supplies and equipment needed for daily operations

Related Responsibilities:

  • assist in job planning by estimating quantities of materials and supplies required, preparation of material lists to include pricing with quotes as needed
  • be available for additional training and perform tasks of training others
  • perform carpentry, painting, plumbing and mechanical repairs
  • perform other duties and tasks as assigned by the Director of Facilities
