Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited four-year institution with a concentration in Early Childhood Education, Birth-Kindergarten, Child Development, Child and Family Studies, Early Intervention, OR other degree in Education/Related Area with 18 graduate semester hours in Early Childhood/Child Development
  •  3 or more years of experience teaching in an early childhood classroom and/or setting
  •  Experience in teaching and/or conducting trainings, workshops or courses in early childhood education 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching Early Childhood classes in higher education
  • Experience teaching in a Community College setting
  • Hold a NC B-K Teaching License or B-K Add on
  • Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish and/or American Sign Language

Position Description

The Full-time Early Childhood Education (ECE) Faculty member is employed by RCCC with the expectation that the college is the primary employer. The Early Childhood Instructor is responsible for conducting assigned day, evening and/or distance education classes of instruction at North and South campus. The instructor is responsible for maintaining instructional quality and effectiveness through constant and timely revisions of course elements and syllabus to meet program support needs, and for keeping accurate and timely records as assigned. He/she is also responsible for assisting in the recruitment and retention of students, advising in-process students, supervising practicum students, and developing recommendations on course content and course offerings in the assigned content areas. The individual may be appointed to serve on various institutional committees and study groups and will be responsible for new course development, selection, and recommendation of appropriate instructional materials and textbooks. The instructor will also be responsible for other duties as assigned. (9 months full-time position)
