Position Description

Full-time art studio faculty member within the Department of Art & Design to teach foundational courses that may include, but are not limited to, drawing, two-dimensional 

design, three-dimensional design, and lens-based and/or digital 

studio courses.  Faculty with knowledge of ceramics, printmaking, or other specialized disciplines are welcome.  Faculty may have the opportunity to teach courses in their area of expertise in addition to basic foundation courses.

This position is intended for primarily traditional, seated courses. On-campus presence is expected of all full-time faculty.

Full-time faculty will be part of a dynamic department that is involved in many initiatives beyond the studio classroom.  Full-time faculty are required to support advising as Faculty Mentors, to hold office hours, to assist with student exhibitions and departmental activities, and to engage in any other duty as assigned. Faculty should be aware of and embrace the community college mission. 

Faculty member may be required to teach courses on any RCCC campus or in various modalities upon the discretion of the Chair.
 
Faculty member will also be expected to facilitate promoting safety throughout the department, in developing/improving curriculum, SLOs, assessment tools, and other duties as assigned by the Program Chair and/or Director. 
 
Faculty member will be expected to fully support departmental initiatives such as NASAD accreditation, grants, etc. These events and initiatives often occur in the evenings and/or on the weekends, and all full-time faculty are required to participate. 
 
All faculty in the Department of Art & Design are expected to be supportive of the ambitious AFA in Visual Arts transfer degree, which is rooted in equity and compassion, and to promote transfer and university campus visits for students. The Department of Art & Design Arts is deeply engaged with the community, all faculty are expected to support our community partners. 
 
Applicants must be familiar with and supportive of the community college mission and environment, the AFA degree, and foundation-level students.
