Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university.
  • A minimum of 3 years of qualifying experience working in Student Affairs or a similar position.

Position Description

Perform a variety of technical and administrative support tasks in the maintenance and management of the financial aid process and for providing technical assistance and information to students, staff, and the public. Promote awareness of financial aid and lead retention efforts for financial aid students not meeting satisfactory academic progress.

  • Counsel students with the financial aid application process and advise students regarding available programs and services.
  • Process student financial aid information requests.
  • Assist students in applying for financial aid and answering general financial aid inquiries via telephone, mail, email, and in person.
  • Assist in maintaining the veteran services page of the website.
  • Coordinate the College’s veteran affairs program.
  • Have a thorough understanding of VA benefits available in order to provide guidance to students using their educational benefits.
  • Serve as liaison between VA students and the Department of Veteran’s Affairs.
  • Advises VA students to ensure coursework will be covered by their benefits; develop and provide an intervention for VA students by regularly contacting them to ensure they are successful in their coursework; and take appropriate action for those who may need additional counseling or tutoring.
  • Certifying Officer for VA benefits to include creating standard terms in VA Once, submit certifications, notify VA of any changes in students’ schedules, and calculation of satisfactory academic program for VA students.
  • Facilitate enrollment and retention of all military, veterans, and dependents of service members.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with the Department of Defense through the College’s Memorandum of Understanding.
  • Coordinate Satisfactory Academic Progress Program (SAP).
  • Serve as supplemental advisor for students not meeting SAP.
  • Develop and coordinate a communication plan to promote financial aid awareness of eligibility criteria through various delivery methods (written, texts, email, videos, etc.).
  • Assist with the verification process which includes helping students and parents resolve outstanding issues and obtaining required information and documentation.
  • Assist with graduation and other College-related duties.
  • Participate in professional and staff development opportunities. 
  • Actively participate in Student Affairs planning, evaluation, and program review.
  • Treat students and colleagues respectfully, speak to others courteously, and behave in such a way that creates a workplace environment that is marked by trustworthiness, honest but polite communication, and interpersonal interaction that are both personally cordial and professionally appropriate.
  • Serve on committees as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
