Minimum Qualifications

A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field and three (3) – Five (5) years of experience administering financial aid programs is required for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or a related field is preferred.

Position Description

Under the direction of the Director of Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs, performs professional and administrative functions for the College's financial aid programs to ensure federal, state, and institutional regulations are satisfied.

Advises students on the financial aid application process and eligibility; assists students with file completion. Authorizes grant charges, completes and awards files, and reconciles grant disbursements. Performs verification, collects information to document files, and submits ISIR corrections.  Administers the Direct Loan Program and serves as the point of contact with the US Department of Education.  Serves as the point of contact with private loan lenders and borrowers.  Counsels students on the direct loan program including loan eligibility, loan types, and financing options; counsels students on grant eligibility and authorizes grant charges.  Certifies loan applications, transmits loan data files; prepares and submits reports.  Collects and tracks loan documents; verifies borrower eligibility, enrollment status, and aggregate loan totals and monitors students’ progress and continued eligibility.  Administers emergency loan program, and assists with grants and scholarships programs.  Conducts exit interviews with financial aid recipients.  Monitors default rate status and contacts students regarding delinquencies or default accounts.  Performs default management procedures and appeals as needed.  Manages the Federal Work-Study Program; reviews applications and coordinates placement.  Works with outside agencies to assist with monitoring students’ progress and continued eligibility.  Attends conferences, meetings and workshops pertaining to financial aid administration.  Serves on institutional committees as appointed.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of: Computer systems and related software programs, including spreadsheet, database, and word processing.  Student financial aid programs and their rules, regulations, and eligibility requirements.  Student financial aid programs and related rules, regulations, and eligibility requirements.  Financial counseling practices.  College curriculum programs requirements.  Data collection/reporting and files structures.  Ability to: Communicate effectively (written and oral) in a variety of settings, with people from diverse backgrounds, educational levels, and age groups.  Operate a PC, mobile devices, and software including Microsoft Office and relevant applications.  Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, administrators, the general public and outside agencies and organizations.  Provide financial counseling for students to complete the FAFSA and other necessary forms and reports.  Follow regulations and guidelines to maximize the amount of financial aid available to students and eliminate or reduce unmet financial need.
