Minimum Qualifications
Associate Degree. Microsoft Office competence (Word, Excel, Outlook). Strong customer service, problem solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Associates degree in Accounting; Community College employment experience with financial aid office experience highly beneficial. Experienced with an information processing system similar to Colleague.
Position Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Manage financial aid processes; provide support to the Senior Director of Financial Aid in processing and maintaining student records; work one evening weekly, counsel students/potential students on all aspects of financial aid. Manage the Federal Work Study Program.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Process students' financial aid applications including completion and electronic submission of the FAFSA.
- Counsel students/potential students on all aspects of financial aid.
- Responsible for a portion of the alphabet including the processing of incoming Institutional Student Information Records, verification of files, clearing comment codes and awarding financial aid.
- Process student correspondence.
- Responsible for the Federal Work Study program.
- Determine student eligibility for financial aid with regard to enrollment status, Satisfactory Academic Progress standards and file completion.
- Analyze and ensure that student financial aid refunds are accurate.
- Follow Federal, State, and Institutional guidelines for financial aid eligibility while processing and maintaining accurate student records.
- Prepare student files for review by the Senior Director of FA for SAP appeals and Professional Judgement.
- Provide exemplary customer service to students via telephone or in person.
- Participate in Colleague and financial aid training
- Miscellaneous tasks: complete purchase orders, file student documentation, assist with registration, assist with bulk mailings, and serve on college committees; assist with graduation, Student Activities and registration; maintain professional appearance in compliance with SS dress code; maintain professional behavior in accordance with professional code of conduct and ethics.
- Position may occasionally require the operation of a college owned vehicle.
