Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Five years of experience in the Fire and/or Rescue field. 
  • Or an equivalent combination of higher education and experience will be considered. 

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Organizational and administrative experience.
  • Current certification as a General Level II Fire Instructor with the NC Department of Insurance and Rescue Commission.
  • Five years of experience in the Fire and/or Rescue field.
  • Ability to effectively utilize common computer applications including MS Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Supervisory Experience.
  •  Ten years of experience in the Fire and/or Rescue field.
  • Current certification as a General Level II Fire Instructor with the NC Department of Insurance and Rescue Commission with five years instructor experience at post-secondary level.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft of Microsoft Office Suite software and Programs.

The Fire and Rescue Training Coordinator assumes the responsibility for the establishment, development, and quality for Fire and Rescue Continuing Education Programs. The incumbent will collaborate with all local fire departments and rescue squads in order to identify the training needs in our service area.

Essential Duties

 

  • Communicate with various agencies and individuals concerning needs for upgrading classes and work with instructors to develop course outlines and instructional materials. 
  • Complete requisitions as needed.
  • Prepare a calendar of courses and develop course objective and outlines.
  • Publicize courses through various methods and media in cooperation with the Public Information Officer. 
  • Verify payroll, statistical reports, and record keeping. 
  • Confer frequently with the appropriate college personnel including the Director of Emergency Services Training Center and other Training Center Staff. 
  • Assist in budget planning for the school and monitor the spending of the assigned budget.
  • Assist instructors in registration, testing, and preparation of reports and forward same to the appropriate office.
  • Evaluate instructional staff regularly and through various means.
  • Conduct in-service workshops for instructors and/or prospective instructors. 
  • Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Emergency Services Training Center.
  • Complete requirements of class visitation as required by the Quality Assurance plan. 
  • Attend local Fire Chief's Association meetings.
  • Serve on College committees as assigned.
  • Complete the annual five-hour staff development.
  • Encourage and support College activities, policies, procedures, and philosophies.
  • Actively participate in professional organizations.
  • Assume other duties as requested by the supervisor and the College.
