Position Description

Primary responsibilities include development and instruction of online courses within the Fire Protection Technology and Emergency Management degree programs; instruction of non-credit continuing education courses that require a NC-OSFM Instructor Qualification; and coordination of continuing education Fire/Rescue/Emergency Management certification courses.  The position will have a forty (40) hour work week including a teaching load consisting of a combination of curriculum courses and non-credit continuing education courses that require an OSFM Instructor Qualification.  Areas of continuing education instruction may include, but are not restricted to Firefighter, Technical Rescuer, Driver/Operator, Fire Officer, and Fire Instructor.  Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection, Emergency Management, or related field, or a minimum of an Associate’s degree and demonstrated competencies in fire protection or emergency management required.  Certified NC-OSFM Fire Instructor with qualification in Firefighter or other specialty, or meet the necessary prerequisites to become NC-OSFM qualified within one year of hire, required.  Candidate must be customer-oriented and a self-starter with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.  Preferred proficiency in computer skills to include experience in an online learning management system (LMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
