Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree in business, marketing, public relations, education, or a related field
Experience: Excellent writing skills. Experience in fund raising. Experience with a donor history software. Experience in accounting and an accounting software system.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in community college and/or non-profit fundraising.
Position Description
PRIMARY TASK:
- Research, develop and implement friend and fund raising strategies; manage the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of all donors and prospects; maintain records of all such activities.
- Work closely with the President and college administration in cultivation, procurement, retention, and recognition of donors.
- Serve as the college's campaign manager for Major Gift Campaigns, project specific campaigns and the college's annual fund. This includes organizing and training the campaign committee, developing prospect list, organizing the president's and volunteer schedule and setting up meetings with prospects. It also includes scheduling and organizing leadership awareness events for the campaigns.
- Meet with prospective donors and seek donations to the foundation and the college.
- Work with the President and Foundation Board Nominating Committee to identify prospective Foundation Directors with affluence and/or influence and recruit those prospects.
- Coordinate and manage foundation events, projects and functions including, but not limited to, Foundation planning, quarterly meetings of the board, special events, annual fund raising campaigns, etc
- Maintain appropriate relationships with all funding sources (donors, civic groups, business/industry, college staff, NC Foundations, and alumni).
ADDITIONAL TASK:
- Coordinate resource development activities with other college divisions and departments, foundation planning and budgeting activities.
- Serve as secretary to the Mayland Community College Foundation's volunteer board of directors and all foundation committees.
- Coordinate leadership, training, and recognition activities for board members and volunteers.
- Guide and support the college's Coordinator of Resource Development in development and submission of grant proposals that relate to the mission and goals of MCC and Foundation Board.
- Serve on the college Scholarship Committee with emphasis on the awarding process to ensure that donor's intentions are upheld.
- Maintain and update Foundation governing policies and procedures.
- Recommend annual Foundation endowment spending rates.
- Submit request and maintain college department and Foundation approved budgets.
- Serve on College Gateways and Annual Report Committees.
- Serve as liaison between the Foundation Board and its asset management company; keep Foundation Board appraised on investment portfolio.
- All other duties as assigned by the president.
