Position Description
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Admissions and Student Engagement, the Admissions and Outreach Specialist will facilitate admissions and outreach efforts for potential students to the College. Primary functions will include recruitment of new students, admissions application processing, and outreach throughout the enrollment cycle.
Knowledge & Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Utilizes CFNC Cross Connect to import the CFNC application and student transcripts.
- Builds and delivers automated correspondence through the College’s texting and email platforms.
- Works within OnBase to facilitate the movement of student applications and transcripts through the admissions workflows.
- Ensures compliance with all State Residency and International Student policies.
- Ensures compliance with all FERPA regulations.
- Reviews applicant data for SAT/ACT scores, placement test, and credits to determine the need for placement testing.
- Maintains and updates admission records and student files.
- Uses Colleague to process, admit, and maintain applicant records.
- Supports the JCC Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) committee in planning communication to applicants and newly admitted students.
- Communicates with other college staff to ensure best practices, efficient workflow and integrated student services.
- Assist in the implementation of the comprehensive recruitment plan for potential students.
- Provides outreach to students, staff, and families from local K-12 schools.
- Facilitates and coordinates campus visits and tours.
- Assists potential students who visit the Student Success Center with applications, residency, and other admissions processes.
- Represents the College to the off-campus community, higher education, business, industry agencies, and or individuals as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables i n situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Colleague, OnBase, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
