Education Minimum:  Associate's degree in accounting or business-related field.
 
Experience Minimum:  One to three years cashiering experience within a business office environment.
 
Experience Preferred:  Community college or other higher education work experience.

Position Description

Summary 
Performs the full range of accounts receivable duties as well as general cashiering functions.

 

Knowledge & Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Receives, verifies, records and issues receipts for all College cash collections.
  • Assists students with account, payment plan, and refund questions. 
  • Distributes receipts, reports and various checks to appropriate recipients.
  • Manages and monitors the use of the College's gas credit cards.
  • Interacts with a diverse volume of students, staff, and the general public. 
  • Performs a variety of customer service and clerical work requiring general knowledge of fee collection and cashiering activities including filling in and assisting cashier position as needed. 
  • Assists in maintaining a variety of financial records related to fee collection.
  • Attends off-campus registrations as needed. 
  • Responsible for training new cashiers and cross-training others in office for cashiering 
  • Processes returned checks and disputed debit charges 
  • Verifies Nelnet remittances 
  • Verifies journal entries for Assistant Controller 
  • Reconciles and creates journal entries merchant Statements 
  • Reconciles and maintains Outside Scholarship Log 
  • Uses Communication Management to assist department with debt collections, W-9 distribution and other important notifications 
  • Coordinates Cashier office coverage to ensure appropriate staffing levels during peak periods.
  • Completes and submits Annual Survey of Fees report and other System Office requested reports as needed. 
  • Updates knowledge and skills through continuous training. 
  • Assists with other Accounts Receivable duties as needed, and serves as Accounts Receivable Specialist back-up. 
  • Assist Director of Students Accounts with various reconciliations and tasks as needed. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Computer Skills
