Education Minimum: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Experience Minimum: One (1) year of experience in Biotechnology or a related field.

Experience Preferred: Prefer experience in career development, career counseling, and recruitment.
Position Description
Summary:
The Career Pathway Navigator (CPN) prepares students for careers in Biotechnology through resume preparation, conducting mock interviews and LinkedIn profile development. The CPN will serve as a liaison between the biotechnology department and Talent Acquisition at our industry partner sites for the purpose of aligning our students with open positions. The CPN will understand career paths available within biopharmaceutical companies and assist students with identifying their career goals and aligning those goals with job and/or educational opportunities. Additionally, the CPN will assist with recruitment of students into the BioWork/ Biotechnology program and establishing and leading in-person career fairs at the Workforce Development Center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Delivers in-person Career Development workshops for BioWork classes focusing on resume development, interview skills and establishing a LinkedIn account. This requires evening availability (6-10pm) approximately 6 times per semester
- Coordinates recruitment and retention of students within Biotechnology by conducting visits to area high schools, local festivals/events, job centers, and posting to social media
- Plans, executes, and hosts in-person career fairs and recruiting/networking events
- Works with students in understanding and exploring biotechnology careers and options available
- Establishes good working relationships with talent acquisition personnel at our local industry partners
- Maintains knowledge of JCC programs of study, labor market information, and career paths
- Prepares marketing materials for career development workshops, biotechnology career fairs, and related career events
- Collects and maintains all required data needed to ensure program accountability
- Assists with collecting data on student job placement
- Performs other duties as assigned

Language Skills
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of industry partners, students, faculty, and the general public.
- Excellent communication skills
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute salary rates and percentages and interpret results.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule form
Computer Skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Familiarity with College Systems such as Colleague, OnBase, E-Pro etc. is a plus.
