QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
- Organizational and management practices as applied to the planning, analysis and evaluation of educational programs, policies and operational needs
- Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation
- Pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations
- Principles and procedures of academic and instructional program development and administration
- Principles and practices of curriculum development and instructional teaching strategies
- Standards and criteria required by accrediting agencies
- Current trends, research findings and developments in the area of assignment
Ability To:
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
- Communicate clearly and respectfully, both verbally and in writing
- Supervise, train and evaluate instructional staff
- Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Minimum Education/Training:
- Must hold an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Must have two years’ full-time professional experience as a diagnostic cardiac sonographer preferably with vascular experience
- Must have two years’ experience as a clinical instructor
License or Certificate:
- Must be board certified and an appropriately credentialed sonographer in adult echo. Vascular registry preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Five years’ full-time professional experience as a diagnostic cardiac sonographer, preferably with vascular experience
Position Description
DEFINITION:
To coordinate, plan, and review the educational services of the program; To provide didactic instruction necessary for students entering clinical education; to coordinate assigned activities with other college programs, divisions, departments and campuses and outside agencies; and to provide highly responsible and complex administrative support.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
- Receives general supervision from the Cardiovascular Sonography Program Director
- Exercises direct and indirect supervision over instructors, other program faculty and staff
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
- Provide instruction for the program; develop supplemental materials and tests; maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance
- Participate in developing, planning, implementing and administer the goals and objectives as well as policies and procedures regarding the program; approve new or modified systems, policies and procedures
- Evaluate activities and operations of the program; evaluate and ensure that operations meet the goals and objectives of the college and the needs of the student population; establish and monitor program evaluation systems and procedures
- Provide input regarding the academic program budget; recommend funds for equipment, materials, and supplies; recommend staffing needs
- Participate in the development of the program work plan; assign work activities, projects and programs; monitor work flow; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures
- Train, motivate, and evaluate clinical instructors; provide or coordinate clinical instructor training; work with faculty to correct deficiencies
- Participate in the development, implementation and review of curriculum, courses and programs
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance; maintain other records and data bases according to program needs or accreditation requirements.
Other Important Functions:
- Serve on a variety of committees and study groups; research and develop recommendations related to academic and instructional programs
- Assist in the program’s efforts to recruit and retain students; assist in the development, review and revision of program publications, publicity and other community relations activities
- Assist with the coordination of the selection, use and maintenance of equipment and facilities assigned to the program; may identify, negotiate and recommend contracts for educational facilities and locations
- Represent the college to the community and outside organizations
- Provide guidance and advice to students
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
